It was his first day on the job. Franklin County Sheriff's Investigator G.L. Shively said Dale Lynnwood Deweese , 33, of Copper Hill and his brother were clearing a grove of trees on land owned by Larry Florin near the Blue Ridge Parkway when Deweese was killed. A tree Deweese had sawed fell against a nearby one and apparently broke some limbs loose, Shively said. A few minutes later, one of the limbs fell and struck Deweese on the head and shoulders while he was sawing on another tree. Shively said the blow knocked Deweese to the bottom of a steep embankment. He died at the scene. Florin's wife, Lynne, said the men had just started clearing the land Tuesday morning. on July 13, 1994.8 He DeWEESE, Dale Lynnwood, 33, of Copper Hill, died Tuesday, July 12, 1994. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching NASCAR racing. His greatest joy was being with his family and friends. In addition to his father, he was greeted in heaven by his great-granddaughter, Hazel Grace Smith. US Hwy 221, Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia.2 She was born on February 3, 1939 at Bent Mountain, Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,2 She died on March 25, 2006 at Virginia at age 67.2 She Margie Aberdeen DeWeese, 67, passed away March 25, 2006. She was born and raised on Bent Mountain, and was preceded in death by her parents, Cabell and Dobie Gearheart DeWeese; sisters, Pauline Horelback, Catheleen Poff; brother, Wilbert DeWeese. She is survived by her sisters, Nannie King, Treva Dillard, and Lela Poff; brothers, William McKinely DeWeese, Winston DeWeese, and Houston DeWeese. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Maurice Wright will officiate. Interment will follow in Copper Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albert Harvey Poff, Jr., Allen W. DeWeese, Brian Todd DeWeese, W. G. King, Roger King, and Larry King. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 989-3131.
