     Twilla Viola Nass Twilla Viola Nass was born April 13, 1926, in Cando ND. She was the daughter of Dick and Della (Plummer) Nass. She was raised on her family's farm and graduated from Cando High School in 1944. Upon graduating from CHS, she attended and graduated from the New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo ND in 1945. Twilla worked as a beautician in Bottineau, Garrison, Langdon, and Rolla. In 1952 she purchased Madeline's Beauty Shop on Main Street Bottineau. She married Jim Poff in 1953, but tragedy came to her life just a short year later when Jim died in a accidental drowning in Garrison ND. Twilla was united in marriage to Norman Glinz at St. John's Lutheran Church, Deep ND on November 9, 1958. That same year she sold her business and started a career as a grain farmers wife and a mother of 2 children, Brigitte, born in 1960 and Mark born in 1964. More business experiences came her way when she and Norman opened Glinz Ski-Doo Sales in 1964 which they owned for 42 years. In 1979, they purchased the Bottineau Courant Newspaper. For over 30 years she spent her time by her husband's side promoting harness horse racing in both U.S, and Canada. Twilla was named the 2012 friends of education by establishing the Glinz family education scholarship at Dakota College at Bottineau and donating trophy cases to the Bottineau High School. She received the Bottineau Area Business and Professional Women's Award and the Jaycee's Lifetime Service Award. Over the years, Twilla has been involved in several community organizations. She was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts and served as troop leader and service unit director. Through her dedication to Girl Scouts she has been awarded the highest accolades by the organization, the United States "Thanks Badge" and the Canadian "Thanks Badge". Since 1975, she was a member of the Bottineau County Historical Society and served as a board member for years. She was also known for her kindness in giving artifacts to the Bottineau County Museum. She has been a member of the Bottineau Community Theater, the Westhope Arts Humanities Association, the "Just us" Homemakers, Birthday Club, and the Bottineau Blue Line Club as fervent "hockey mom". Twilla was also a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. In her spare time she attended auction sales and spending time with her family. Twilla passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at a Bismarck hospital. She is survived by her husband, Norman of Bottineau; daughter, Brigitte (Jeff) Schuster of Bottineau; son, Mark (Brenda) Glinz of Bottineau; 3 granddaughters, Haley Glinz, Taylor Glinz and Tiffany (Brock) Bruner; 4 step grandchildren, Kirsten, Zac, Hope and Ahnna; sisters-in-law, Elaine Glinz, Dorothy (Lynn) Kannas and Marjorie Glinz and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin and Lynn Nass and sister, Velma Wondrasek.1 She was buried at Oak Creek Cemetery, Bottineau, Bottineau Co., North Dakota.1,2 She was born on April 13, 1926 at Cando, Towner Co., North Dakota.1,2 As of 1953,her married name was Poff.1 She married James Kenneth Poff, son of James Murray Poff and Alma Virginia Mills, in 1953.1 Twilla Viola Nass died on January 29, 2017 at Bismark, Burleigh Co., North Dakota, at age 90.1,2
