Minnick, (Gina) and four nieces, Brenda Chapman Minnick of High Point, Cindy Brown Amerson (Allen) of Salisbury, Libby Brown Laxton (Charles) of Hudson and Jeannie Brown Farrell (Joe), of Granite Falls. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Susan Wray; special daughter-in-law, Connie P. Wray; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Taw Hodges, Brittany Michelle Wray, Jace and Andrea Wray and Jade Kelli Wray; greatgrandchildren, Clayton and Alison Hodges, and Tanner Wray-Dudley; stepgrandson, Will and Jamie Wilson; and step great-grandchildren, Daniel, Amelia and Graceann Wilson. She is also survived by her special cousins, considered the "Golden Girls," Zenith Lawrence, Blandy Frettful and Patty Martin. Funeral Services will be conducted from Woodlawn Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011, with the Rev. Eddie Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 30 Woodlawn Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Stewart, 81, of Bassett, Va., died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Greystone Health Care, in Blountville, Tenn. He was born in Floyd County on October 3, 1928, to Sceboy B. and Piny Aldridge Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sgt. Fred C.S. and Norman G. Stewart; and a sister, Gladys L. Maddox. He was retired from Anthony Brothers Lumber and Supply Company, in Stanleytown, Va., where he worked for 48 years. Surviving is a nephew, David P. Maddox, of Martinsville. A private Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Old Salem Cemetery, Copper Hill, Va., with Elder W.T. Conner officiating. She had been a member of the Fork Mountain United Methodist Church for 75 years and a charter member of the United Methodist Women. She retired from Sale Knitting Co. Surviving are three sons, Glennis Holcomb of Bassett, Wayne Holcomb of Rocky Mount and Douglas Holcomb of Boones Mill; two daughters, Freeda Brown and Carmel Powell, both of Rocky Mount; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one step-grandson; and one great-great-grandchild. A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Roselawn Burial Park with Pastor Sarah Whitmore and the Rev. Virgil Soots officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. today at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home, and other times at 2797 Fork Mountain Road, Rocky Mount.
