     Thelma Smith Thelma S. Epperly, 97 of Troutville, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. She was the widow of S. Earl Epperly. Her three brothers; Charlie E. Smith, Jr., William D. Smith, and Walter B. Smith, and three of her sisters; Belva L. Hall, Mildred E. Quick, and Evelyn Graham also preceded her in death. Mrs. Epperly was a talented seamstress and until very recently was still doing alterations. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Williams and her husband, Jim of Troutville, grandson, Jay Williams, granddaughter, Jennifer Lorman and her husband, Jeffrey, great-grandchildren; Janelle Lorman and Sarah Jessica Lorman, a sister, Darlene M. Graham, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at the graveside 3:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, officiated by Pastor Troy Mays. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the League of Animal Protection, 603 Poor Farm Rd, Fincastle VA, 24090. The family would like to thank the Staff of Amedisys hospice for their kind care.3 She was buried at Sunset Cemetery, North Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.3 She was born on May 16, 1917.1 She married Sidney Earl Epperly, son of John P. Epperly and Grace Earnest "Gracie" Rogers, on March 5, 1938 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.2,3 As of March 5, 1938,her married name was Epperly. Thelma Smith died on January 14, 2015 at Virginia at age 97.3

He was born Sept. 20, 1895 in Floyd County, Virginia and was a seven year resident of Henderson coming from Roanoke, Va. He was a retired physiotherapist aide for the veterans administration facilities at Roanoke, Va., and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Army artillery veteran of World War I, holding the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clarice A. Wickham, Henderson; a daughter, Mrs. Chester Sinclair, Henderson; a brother, Ed J. Wickham, Blacksburg, Va; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, 1983, in Crawford A. Crim Funeral chapel in Henderson, with the Rev. Ed Williamson and Dr. A.D. Lemons officiating. He was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder, choir member, and a teacher of the Mens Bible Class. He was a 54-year Mason, having served the Grand Lodge of Virginia, A.F. & A.M. on the Committee on Works for 38 years. He was a Past Worshipful Master of Covington Lodge No. 171, Clifton Lodge No. 166, and Mountain City Lodge, No. 67 at Lexington. He also had served as District Deputy Grand Master of several masonic districts. Other than his wife, Mr. Wickham is survived by one son, Howard Lawrence Wickham Jr., Covington; one daughter, Carolyn Vaughan Young, Roanoke; five sisters, Louise Papayanis, New York, N.Y., Frances Williams, Christiansburg, Ruth Shelor, Christiansburg, Jean Lois Clifton Marietta, Ga., Sandra Zender, Lawrence, Kan; five grandchildren, Stephen Vaughan, Scott Vaughan, Andrew Vaughan, Treasa Herman, and Vickie Callaghan; three great-grand children, Johnathan Sterner, Jay Vaughan, and Jessica Herman. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at 11 a.m. at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with Dr. Earl A. Bland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Masonic Rites will be conducted at the grave by Covington Lodge No. 171. Pallbearers will be Past Masters of Covington Lodge No. 171, William C. Bennett, Johnnie Charles Sr., Clyde H.. Landis Sr., Lewis D. Kemper, Robert E. Loving, and John C. Scott. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Loving Funeral Home. on April 7, 1998.2

Zender, Lawrence, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Nancy Williams Fornes and her husband, Bill, of Valdosta, Georgia; 13 nieces and nephews. Frances retired from the Montgomery County School Board in 1980. She was secretary for Sealtest Foods from 1938 until 1969. Since retirement, she has enjoyed volunteer work with the Historical Museum and many hours tending her flower gardens. Her family and friends will celebrate her life on Thursday, December 23, 1999 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 220 West Main Street, Christiansburg. The family sincerely and respectfully requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carilion New River Valley Hospice, 111 W. Main Street, Christiansburg, Virginia, 24073, or the American Cancer Society. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, however, friends may call at the house. Arrangements are being handled by Horne Funeral Service. on December 22, 1999.2

Ruth Ann Wickham died on March 29, 2014 at Dublin, Pulaski Co., Virginia, at age 91.3 She Ruth Wickham Shelor, 91, of Christiansburg, passed away March 29, 2014, at Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston E. Shelor; parents, Frank and Clara Wickham; sisters, Allene Woods, Frances Williams, and Jean W. Clifton; and a brother, Howard L. Wickham. She is survived by her son, David Shelor Sr. and fiancée, Betty Spence, of Christiansburg; grandsons, David Shelor Jr. and wife, Leisa Shelor, Blacksburg and Christopher Shelor and wife, Kandee Shelor, of Florence, S.C; great-grandchildren, Trey, Chas, Mason and Brock Shelor; sisters, Sandra Zender and Louise Papayonis; and all her friends in her bridge club. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held directly after at 1 p.m with the Rev. Charles DeHart officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. on March 31, 2014.3
