He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mozzello Murphy; his first wife, Audrey Nichols Murphy; a daughter, Cindy Murphy; son, Douglas "Peaches" Murphy and his brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife, Linda J. Murphy of the home; his sons, Jeffery C. "Jeff" Murphy and Richard L. "Ricky" Murphy, Rocky Mount; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Duane Brizendine, Rocky Mount; two grandchildren, Aimee and Dannie Brizendine; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Jean Holtzapfel, Beckley, W.Va; two special nieces, Amanda Fitzwater and Laura Wray; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Roger D. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Head of the River Cemetery, Floyd County. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-5216. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, S. Main Street, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of his daughter. on October 15, 2000.2

Sisson, Palmeto, Fla; three brothers, Banks Wickham, Roanoke; Irvin Wickham, Bennie Wickham, both of Shawsville; a devoted friend, Maria Compton. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Crockett Springs United Methodist Church, Alleghany Springs, with the Rev. Volin R. Savage and the
Rev. Gary E. Heaton officiating. Interment will be at Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 Saturday evening at Richardson-Horne, Christiansburg.
