James Edward "Jim" Keller1,2,3,4

M, b. March 1, 1929, d. August 8, 2006
His Social Security Number was 300-22-3923.3 James Edward "Jim" Keller was buried at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Summit Co., Ohio.5,6 He was born on March 1, 1929 at Akron, Summit Co., Ohio.2,7,3,8,9,6 He married Martha Georgina "Jean" Gilliand, daughter of George Arthur Gilliand and Cleo Josephine Walters, on July 7, 1962 at Summit Co., Ohio.1,2 James Edward "Jim" Keller died on August 8, 2006 at Ohio at age 77.3,8,9,4,6 He James E. Keller (Jim), 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, with his family by his side, after a five-year battle with Alzheimer's. Born March 1, 1929, Jim spent most of his life as a resident of the Akron Stow area, graduating from Garfield High School. In 1946, he entered the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he attended the University of Akron and began his career as a draftsman at the B.F. Goodrich Tire Co., working for the company for over 20 years. Eventually moving on and taking a position with ITW Akron Standard, Jim worked his way up from draftsman to the position of director of international sales. It was in sales that Jim found his true calling, traveling to all four corners of the world many times over, selling tire uniformity test equipment for the tire and automotive industries. He worked the rest of his career in sales at Akron Standard, 24 years in all. Jim was a member of the Stow United Methodist Church. Jim retired from working in 1994 to enjoy the twilight of his years. He had many favorite pastimes, including his love for travel, cooking, gardening, and reading a good book. And although he enjoyed nothing more than playing a round of golf with his favorite foursome, himself and his three sons, it was his role as "grandpa" that he seemedto genuinely cherish the most. At no other time in his life did he look more happy and content than when spending time with each and every one of his grandchildren. You were always the life of the party and will forever be remembered for your quick wit, great sense of humor, and infectious smile. We will all miss you deeply. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Delta Keller; brothers, Tommy Keller, Jack Heimbaugh, Russell Keller Jr., Roger Keller; and sister, Helen Kassak. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean; brother, Gene Keller of Akron; daughters, Cheri (Mick) Carmichael of Akron, Nancy (Ray) Gabler of Stow, Vicki (Butch) Blood of Akron, and Jami (Rick) Finney of Uniontown; sons, Scott (Lori) Keller of Stow, Keith (Jodie) Keller of Kent, Brian (Denise) Keller of Stow; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. Interment immediately following at Rose Hill Burial Park. on August 10, 2006.6
