     Benjamin Herbert Harris Jr. Mr. Benjamin Herbert "Ben Junior" Harris, Jr., age 83 of Meadows of Dan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 2, 2008, at the Wheatland Retirement Community in Hillsville. He was born in Patrick County on December 2, 1924 to the late Benjamin Herbert Harris and Claudia Agee Harris Wood. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Harris and Rufus Wood; and his stepfather, George Wood. He had served in the United States Army during World War II, and had been a mechanic. He was a longtime member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church where he served as deacon and trustee. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lawrence Harris of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wilburn Harris of Marion and Walter and Patsy Harris of Meadows of Dan; one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Pat Thomas of Durham, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Matthew Harris, Andrew Harris, Phillip Bridges, Ben G. Briggs Epperly, 94, a homemaker, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at a care facility in West. Entombment: Greenwood Mausoleum. Claudene was born Nov. 26, 1916, in Fort Worth to Claude C. and Jesse Hill Dews. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, and the Fort Worth Woman's Club. She dearly loved her city of Fort Worth but moved nearly five years ago to the Hillsboro/West area to be closer to her daughter and family. Claudene was truly a kind, perfectly groomed and gentile lady. She loved her church, enjoyed playing bridge, playing her organ and doing embroidery and hand work. Her love of God and family always came first. The marriage to the love of her life, Reed H. Briggs, was blessed with two children, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Reed H. Briggs, in 1981, and Don Epperly, in 1994. One of six children, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Rabon O. Dews, General Omer S. Dews, James D. Dews; and one son-in-law, Jerry W. Janek. Survivors: Children, William R. Briggs and wife, Carol, of Dana Point, Calif., and Karen B. Janek of West; sisters, Wynona Jones of Dallas and Nelda Wagner of Fairfield, Calif; grandchildren, Scott Briggs and wife, Julie, of Riverside, Calif., Pamela Briggs and husband, Daren, of Chino, Calif., Brad Janek and wife, Jody, of Valley Mills, and Jeff Janek and wife, Yildiz, of Sao Paulo, Brazil; great-grandchildren, Alec Briggs, Nicole and Garrett Briggs, Blake, Jacie and Jenna Janek, and Caroline, Isabella and Nicholas Janek. on August 12, 2011.2
