He was "Mr. Marion College" to multiple generations. He ended his career as Assistant to the President of Indiana Wesleyan University. He was a member of the Christian Businessmen's Association and College Wesleyan Church. In addition to his love for Indiana Wesleyan University he lived his life committed to Jesus Christ. He expressed this dedication through service to students, faculty and staff, church leaders, friends and family. His warm smile and genuine care for others caused young and old to love and trust Howard Noggle. He leaves a legacy of changed lives and great hope. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include a daughter, Carol N. (Deane) Dayton, Huntsville, Ala; grandson, Chris Dayton, Huntsville, Ala; and special family friends, Rod, Juli and John Harmon, Marion. In addition to his wife, Marie Noggle, and his parents, Frank and Sina May Noggle, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Esther Marshall; and stepmother, Gertie Noggle. Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday in College Wesleyan Church with Dr. Bud Bence officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Needham-Storey-Wampner, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church. Paul Meeks officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation was Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the Howard & Maggie Noggle Scholarship Fund, in care of Indiana Wesleyan University. on December 31, 2003.1

Both occupants were pinned in the front seat of the car. The impact pushed the motor an instrument panel into the front seat, investigating officers said. The driver was taken to the Huntington county hospital in the Deal ambulance from Andrews. Mrs. Bradfield was reported dead when she was removed from the wreckage. Mrs. Bradfield was born March 27, 1926 in Huntington county to Fred and Lula Van Meter Carpenter. Her marriage was to Frank Bradfield August 21, 1949. He survives. Also surviving are three sons, Jack Seymour, Gregory and Kenneth Bradfield; her step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bragg, Jackson township; a sister, Mrs. Rosa Keefer, this city; two brothers, Fred G. Carpenter, Huntington, and Irvin Carpenter, Auburn; and three half-brothers, Garl Slagel, Norwalk Ohio; James Slagel, Waynedale, and Charles Bragg, Roanoke. The father, a brother Dewey Carpenter, and a half-brother, Paul Slagel, are dead. Friends may call at the Bailey mortuary after 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the mortuary with the Rev. Robert E. Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Etna cemetery. on October 17, 1957.5

Mr. Carpenter worked for Dana Corporation for 39 years, retiring Dec. 1, 1989. He was a private first class in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was born April 7, 1929 in Roanoke to Fred and Lula (Vanmeter) Carpenter. They both preceded him in death. He married Pauline Fields on Aug. 14, 1948 and she died Nov. 11, 2001. He then married Maxine Weber on April 24, 2004 and she survives. Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael Wayne and Sue Carpenter of Garrett; one daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Jean and David Platner of Shelby Township, Mich; one sister, Rosa Carpenter of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Platner, Amanda Tarlton, Jaclyn Carpenter and Craig Carpenter and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Carpenter, Dewey Carpenter and Charles Bragg; two half-brothers, James Slagel and Carl Slagel and two sisters, Ruth Bradfield and Rosa Carpenter. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St. in Auburn with the Rev. Kenny Queener officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn with military graveside services being conducted by the Avilla American Legion. Calling will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the ALS Foundation. on August 23, 2009.2
