Prillaman, daughter of Jacob Prillaman and Martha Gray, on February 5, 1886 at Floyd Co., Virginia.² John Davis Reed married Martha Ella Hall, daughter of Doctor R. "Dock" Hall and Sarah Elizabeth "Liz" Prillaman, on April 25, 1928 at Floyd Co., Virginia.¹ John Davis Reed died on April 16, 1948 at Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 82.⁴

     William Benjamin Reed was buried at Head of the River Cemetery (also known as Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery), Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.^2,3 He was born on July 15, 1835 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^3,1 He married Elizabeth Julia Byrd, daughter of William Bird Jr. and Asenath Sink, on January 9, 1861.^4,1 William Benjamin Reed died on May 21, 1922 at Check, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 86; He may have also died on May 24, 1922.^3,1

     Henry Iddings was buried at Head of the River Cemetery (also known as Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery), Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.^2,1 He Arrived in Virginia from Pennsylvania before 1789, lived near Bent Mountain. Henry was enumerated in the 1810 Virginia census. Around 1820, the first Methodist church was built near the little village of Simpsons, better known as Locust Grove. The first church was called "Iddings Chapel" because the land was donated by the aging Henry Iddings. 1840 Floyd Co. Virginia Census, pg 171 Henry Iddings, 1 male & 1 female 70-79 yo, 1 female 40-49 yo, 2 males 30-39 yo, 1 female 20-29 yo, 1 male 5-9 yo, 1 male & 1 female 0-4 yo. The Will of Henry Iddings Jr. In the name of God Amen I Henry Iddings being old and infirm in boddy but perfectly sound in mind do make this my last Will and Testement as follows. Viz I give my boddy to the earth from whence it was taken in the certain assurance of hope that it be raised an immortal boddy at the riserrection(ressurection) at the last day and my soul to God who gave it and is able to preserve it and for the little property which by the blessing of God I have been able to gather I desire that it may be disposed of in the following manner. (Viz) First, after my honest debts is (are) discharged and the funeral expenses defraid (defrayed) I do give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary two hundred dollars in cash and two beds with steds and furniture sufficient for them and two milk cows () six head of sheep (and) one bureau (to keep for) her life time (;) then () if any remain (s) (are) not disposed of it is (they are) to be sold and (the proceeds) equally devided amonst the rest of my children only (except for) fifty dollars cash she can give to whom she pleases at her death(.)      Mary Lou Tolbert was buried at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Hillsville, Carroll Co., Virginia.^3,4 Her Social Security Number was 232-34-1903.² She was born on December 10, 1928 at Sylvatus, Carroll Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,4 As of June 23, 1951,her married name was Hall.¹ She married Everett Walter Hall, son of Norris Maree Hall and Bertha Jane Conner, on June 23, 1951 at Anawalt, McDowell Co., West Virginia.^1,3,4 Mary Lou Tolbert died on July 10, 2007 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 78.^2,3,4,5 She Mary Lou Hall, 78, of Christiansburg, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2007. She was born December 10, 1928 in Carroll County, Va., the daughter of Charlie Lafayette Tolbert and Sarah Nettie Marshall Tolbert. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Everett Hall of Christiansburg; sons, Eddie Wayne Hall and wife, Donna, of Christiansburg, Larry Wade Hall and wife, Melva Ann, of Christiansburg, and Charles Benjamin Hall and wife, Cathy, of Pilot; one brother, James E. Tolbert and wife, Nancy Marie, of Boones Mill; three grandchildren, Mary Jeanette Hall, Walter Wilson Hall, and Sarah Nicole Hall; three step grandchildren, Michelle Johnson, Jenna Carroll, and Josh Kozar; and four great grandchildren. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Carroll County, Va. on July 11, 2007.³

     Paul Newton Elmore was buried at Evergreen Burial Park, 1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, Virginia.^10,2,3,4 He was born on February 24, 1849 at Botetourt Co. (now Craig Co.), Virginia; His gravestone has a birth year of 1850.^1,2,3,4 He married Laura Katherine "Lora" Hancock, daughter of Stephen Andrew Hancock and Susan F. Pence, on February 26, 1880 at Craig Co., Virginia; Laura lists her parents as Stephen and Susan Hancock on her marriage license.^11,1,2 Paul Newton Elmore died on August 23, 1924 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 75.^1,5,2,3,4 He Paul Elmore, a former Craig citizen, son of the late Rev. A. J. Elmore and a brother of Mr. C. W. Elmore of New Castle, died at his home in Roanoke on Saturday, August 23rd, 1924, after a long illness, aged seventy-four years. The cause of death was bladder trouble and complications. He is survived by his wife and eight children. Mr. Elmore had been living in Roanoke for the past twenty-five years. circa August 26, 1924.⁵

     Abigail Olive Richardson Presumed to be buried beside her husband Henry under an unreadable stone in Head of the River Cemetery, Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia. She was born circa 1770 at Nantmeal, Chester Co., Pennsylvania. She married Henry Iddings on December 11, 1789 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.¹ As of December 11, 1789,her married name was Iddings. Abigail Olive Richardson died in 1845 at Floyd Co., Virginia.

     Carolyn Joyce Bower Carolyn Conner, 81, of Riner, Virgina, passed away on April 6, 2024 surrounded by her family. Carolyn was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman and a source of inspiration to all. She was a woman dedicated to her faith, and she instilled in those closest to her the importance of family, hard work, and above all else, following the Lord in every situation of life. Carolyn was born on May 17, 1942 to Mary & Marvin Bower in Montgomery County, VA. She attended Check High School where she met the love of her life, Clyde Edsel Conner. They were married in Christiansburg, Virginia on January 23, 1960. Clyde and Carolyn were married for over 64 years and had four children, Edsel, Brenda, Kevin, and Garrett. Being a devoted wife and mother was one of the most important parts of Carolyn’s life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. She was an excellent mom, and was supportive, kind, and quick-witted. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James Marvin Bower and Mary Edna Underwood. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Edsel Conner of Riner, VA; her four children, Rev. Edsel Conner (Judy) of Check, VA, Brenda Tamondong (Liborio) of Greenville, NC, Kevin Conner (Christi) of Radford, VA, and Garrett Conner (Susan) of Dublin, VA; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Interment will follow in the Wilson Cemetery.⁴ She was buried at Wilson Cemetery, Daniel's Run Road (Rt. 661), Locust Grove, Floyd Co., Virginia.⁴ She was born on May 17, 1942 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,5,4 She married Clyde Edsel Conner, son of Isaac Raymond Conner and Eleanor Ruth Clower, on January 23, 1960 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,6,7,4 As of January 23, 1960,her married name was Conner. Carolyn Joyce Bower died on April 6, 2024 at Virginia at age 81.⁴
