Brown, 83, of Lot 23, Thornwood Mobile Home Park, died Wednesday in Central Carolina Hospital. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. Burial will be in Broadway Town Cemetery. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Irene W. Brown of the home; a daughter, Mary D. McNeill of Sanford; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. on January 9, 1998.⁷

     Watson Lee Dickerson was buried at Piedmont Cemetery, Rt. 11 to Shawsville, turn at nursing home, Rt. 637, about 8 miles on the left, Montgomery Co., Virginia.⁴ He was born on December 22, 1944 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^2,4 He married Mary Ellen Brown, daughter of Lubert Felty Brown and Nellie Irene Whitenack, on January 21, 1967 at Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia.¹ Watson Lee Dickerson and Mary Ellen Brown were divorced on August 17, 1992 at Lee Co., North Carolina.³ Watson Lee Dickerson died on June 29, 2016 at Raleigh, Wake Co., North Carolina, at age 71.⁴ He Watson Lee Dickerson, 71, of Raleigh, N.C., died peacefully, Wednesday, June 29, 2016. He was born on December 22, 1944, in New Altamont Hospital, Christiansburg. He was preceded in death by parents, Riley Tazewell and Anna Ella Martin Dickerson. He grew up in the Alleghany Springs section of Shawsville in Montgomery County and graduated from Alleghany District High School in 1965. In 1970 Watson and his family moved to Moncure, N.C., for work opportunities. He lived in several locations of North Carolina for 46 years. He is survived by a son, Robert Dwayne "Bobby" Dickerson (Amelia) of Pittsboro, N.C; a daughter, Teresa Dawn Morton (David) of Wilmington, N.C; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lynne Dickerson, Rhonda Michelle Gordon (Dakota), Victoria Nicole Dickerson, Adam Allen Morton, Ashley Nicole Morton; and one great-grandchild, Hunner Red Gordon. He is also survived by one brother, Marshall Dickerson (Donna) of Vinton; three sisters, Betty Sowder (Jim) of Mechanicsville, Jeanette Graham of Shawsville, Edna Conner of Salem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. He loved gardening and fishing at a favorite spot on Jordan Lake. He also loved woodworking and making wooden gifts he gave to the family. He pursued a vocation in building, construction, cabinetry, and landscaping. He had a special talent in the details of cabinetry. He worked for Boise Cascade, Knowles Cabinet Shop, Buies Creek Landscaping, and P and L Construction Co., among others. He often spoke of moving back to Alleghany Springs, but only in death is this dream realized. He will have his final rest in the Piedmont Cemetery, Alleghany Springs section of Shawsville, Va. on July 10, 2016.⁴

Robert Lee "Bob" Marshall, of Wilmington, N.C., died Sunday April 26, 2009, at Cyprus Point Rehabilitation and Healthcare Centre. He was born November 2, 1927, in Tralee, W.Va., son of the late Henry Marshall and Sarah Cox Marshall. Mr. Marshall owned and operated Carolina Beach AMOCO from 1972-1998. Surviving are his children, Renee Whicker and husband, Larry, of Kernersville, N.C., Sarah Styers and husband, Sam, of Wilmington, N.C., Peggy Adams and husband, Lee, of Charlotte, N.C., Nancy Huffer and husband, Jerry, of Carolina Beach, N.C. and Sylvia Marshall Bruns and husband, Matt, of Wilmington, N.C; five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Hillsville, Va. on April 29, 2009.³

     Carl Leonard Whitlock was buried at Felts Memorial Cemetery, Galax, Virginia.⁴ He was born on February 2, 1932 at Henry Co., Virginia.^2,4 He married Shirley Ann Prillman on June 27, 1952 at Bassett, Virginia.^1,3,4 Carl Leonard Whitlock died on November 27, 2020 at Dobson, Surry Co., North Carolina, at age 88.⁴ He Carl Leonard Whitlock passed away on November 27, 2020, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C. He was born on February 2, 1932, in Henry County, Va., to the late Esley Whitlock and Lessie Witt. On June 27, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Prillaman. They were married 68 years. Carl joined the U.S. Army shortly after their wedding and served as an ambulance driver from 1952 to 1954 in the Korean War. After service, he graduated from University of Virginia Hospital's X-Ray Technician Program. He then worked as Chief X-Ray Technician at Kings Daughters Hospital in Staunton, Va. and later Pulaski Hospital in Pulaski, Va. In 1961, Carl moved to Galax, Va., where he remained for the rest of his life. He owned a variety of businesses over the years including mobile home sales, a clothing store, car washes and a contracting company. He attended Galax Presbyterian Church for 56 years where he served as a deacon and later elder. In the 1990s, he supervised the building of the church's Warrick Hall. He will always be remembered by family and friends for his good humor and remarkable ability to make everyone around him laugh. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. His breadth of knowledge about antique cars was unmatched. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn Whitlock Daniel; brother, Roy Whitlock; and son-in-law, David Lyons. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; daughters, Lisa Lyons of Rock Hill, S.C., and Cynthia Johnson (Christopher Rheinschild) of Clemmons, N.C; granddaughters, Erica Ververs (James) of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Hannah Johnson of Richmond, Va; brothers, John "Buck" Whitlock (Jean), Billy Whitlock (Ann), and Jerry Whitlock, all of Fieldale, Va; and several nieces and nephews. A drive-thru visitation will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020, from 11 a.m. until noon at Felts Cemetery. on December 2, 2020.⁴
