Deceased is survived by his wife, one son, Frank, one brother, William, this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Cole and Mrs. Bessie Cole, both of Surveyor, Pa. The remains were brought to this city Saturday afternoon and taken to the home of Samuel Fravel, at Flemington, from where funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon by Rev. O. S. Metzler. Interment in Flemington cemetery. on January 18, 1918.4

Funeral: Rich - Services will be Friday at 11 a.m., at the Helt Funeral Home, Lock Haven, for Mrs. John B. Rich, 82, of Woolrich, who died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1973, at 9:30 p.m. at Susque-View, Lock Haven. The Rev. C. John Crawford will officiate. Interment, Woolrich Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorial gifts will be accepted for the Woolrich Community Church. on September 19, 1973.4

Rich, 57, of Woolrich, director and secretary of the Woolrich Woolen Mills, died at 1:30 o'clock this morning in the Williamsport Hospital where he was admitted yesterday. He had been in normal health until the night before last and his death came as a shock to the community. He was born March 29, 1887, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Rich, and is survived by his wife, Frances Tyson Rich, four sons, Pvt. Robert B., with the army in Boston; John Edward at home; Lt. Michael B., and Army Air Force pilot stationed in Florida; and Corporal James T., in England. Also surviving are one brother and four sisters: Robert F. Rich and Mrs. Robert L. Leinbach, Woolrich; Mrs. George W. Sykes, Conifer, N.Y; Mrs. Edward Snyder, Ashland; and Mrs. James B. Corson, Latrobe. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the home in Woolrich, the Rev. C. F. Himes officiating. Interment will be in Woolrich Cemetery. In addition to his positions as a director and secretary of the Woolen Mills, Mr. Rich also served as general sales manager. He was a member of the Williamsport Consistory, the Altoona Shrine, and the F. and A.M. and the Elks Lodge in this city. He also belonged to the Woolrich Community Church. on July 28, 1944.4

Surviving are his wife, the former Carrie Tyson, three sons, Harry of Lock Haven R.D., Edward A., of Lock Haven, Gordon S., of the U.S. Navy, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Helt Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. James F. Neil, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery.3 He was born in October, 1868 at Pennsylvania.4 He married Carrie B. Her husband, who died in 1938, was secretary-treasurer of the Altoona Discount company and had previously been secretary-treasurer of the Mountain City Trust company. Mrs. Metz was a native of Mill Hall, Centre county. She was the daughter of William and Emma (Rightnour) Chatham and was married to Mr. Metz in Camden, N.J., Sept. 24, 1892. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert Chenoweth; one granddaughter, Mrs. Jane Rothert, and three great-grandchildren, Marlyn, Rebecca and Jane Rothert. Mrs. Metz was a member of the First Methodist church. Friends will be received at the Hickey funeral home after 7 o'clock this Evening. on June 10, 1947.3

Vesper St., died yesterday at 4 p.m. at her home following a heart attack suffered early in the morning. Born in Mill Hall, she had lived in Lock Haven for the past 14 years and has been employed as a clerk in the former Flack's store. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Maude Metz of Altoona and a niece, Mrs. Harry Chenoweth of Philadelphia. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Welsh Funeral Home with the Rev. G. Cecil Weimer officiating. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. on July 8, 1943.6

     John Watson Chatham was buried at Reynoldsville Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania.5,7 He was born on February 14, 1841 at Clinton Co., Pennsylvania.8,5,7 He married Rosa Belle "Rosabell" Kerns on August 19, 1875 at Three Runs, Clearfield Co., Pennsylvania.7,9 John Watson Chatham died on July 1, 1926 at Reynoldsville, Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania, at age 85.10,5,7 He John Chatham, aged 85 years, a highly esteemed resident of Reynoldsville, died at his home on Main street, that city, at noon Thursday, after a brief illness. Death was due to arterio sclerosis. The deceased was born in Clinton county, February 14, 1841, where he was reared to manhood. On August 19, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Rosabelle Kerns, of Clinton county, and the couple made their home there for several years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rosabelle Chatham, three daughters and one son: Mrs. D. F. Maines, of Ossining, N. Y; Mrs. D. J. McCorkle, of Cleveland, O; Mrs. E. M. Henderson, of Lewistown, Pa., and Russell Chatham, whose wherebouts are unknown at present. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Reynoldsville and burial made in that Cemetery. on July 8, 1926.7

He was a prominent member of the First Baptist church of this city and was an official and deacon in the church. Deceased lived an exemplary Christian life and will be greatly missed in the congregation of his choice, where he was a very active worker. Mr. Chatham was also a member of Olympic Council No. 932, Royal Arcanum of this city. Ira C. Chatham was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chatham, and was born at Lamar in 1856. His father was a farmer and and he lived at Lamar for a few years, when his parents moved to Flemington. When a young man 17 years of age, Mr. Chatham went to Farrandsville and secured employment in the general store of Fredericks, Munro and Co., a position which he capably and faithfully filled for 25 years. While living at Farrandsville he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Winterstein, of that village. Two children, Fred and Miss Elva, both of whom still make their home at 633 Bellefonte avenue, were born to the union. After the general store at Farrandsville had been sold, Mr. Chatham went to Karthaus with his family. At Karthaus he was general manager of the fire brick works. Seven years ago the family moved to this city and Mr. Chatham accepted the agency of this district for the McCaskey Cash Register company, of Alliance, Ohio. He was a man of strict integrity and sound business principles and during his seven years as a citizen he made many warm friends here. He is survived by his wife and two children above mentioned, one brother, and two sisters, J. W. Chatham, of Reynoldsville; Mrs. S. B. Jobson, of Niagra Falls, N.Y. and Mrs. R. W. Fredericks, of this city. Funeral services were conducted at the house Thursday morning at 10 o’clock by Rev. E. A. Rook. Interment in Highland cemetery. on September 1, 1916.7

     Robert Devling was buried at New Hope Cemetery (also called Fairview Cemetery), Liberty, Clay Co., Missouri; Robert was originally buried in Oak Crest Cemetery, on the north side of Englewood Road at the intersection with North Troost and across from Englewood Park. It lay on the west side of the Old Grand Island Railway and the bank for this railroad can still be seen on the south side of Englewood along the west side of Troost. For reasons now unknown, the cemetery was discontinued and on
May 25, 1926 the 24 bodies were moved. The newspaper reported that 18 were reburied in Liberty and six in Kansas City.7,5,6 He was born on October 20, 1833 at Allison Township, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania.1,7,5 He Enlisted as a Sergeant in Union Army, Company S, 38th Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania on July 3, 1863 at Pennsylvania.8 He Mustered out Company S, 38th Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania on August 7, 1863.8 He married Ann Thomas "Anna" Roberts on October 21, 1875 at Clay Co., Missouri.7 Robert Devling died on November 21, 1914 at Gallatin Township, Clay Co., Missouri, at age 81.5

"Amelia" Myers on January 7, 1868 at Juniata Co., Pennsylvania.1,2 James Willard Devling died on November 27, 1908 at Lock Haven, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania, at age 73.1,2,3,7 He James Willard Devling, one of Lock Haven's best known citizens, died suddenly of heart failure at his residence, No. 214 East Church street, about 9:45 o'clock Friday evening. For the past year Mr. Devling had not been in his usual good health and several times recently suffered attacks of the malady which caused his death. He was the son of Hugh and Elizabeth Devling and was born on a farm near the present location of the Clinton Clay company's works on November 20 1835, being consequently but a few days over 73 years of age. Mr. Devling was one of Lock Haven's pioneer citizens and has practically resided in Clinton county all his life. At one time he operated a cement quarry in Nittany valley and later engaged in the manufacture of lime near Salona. In recent years he lived a retired life, having removed to this city about 16 years ago. When the War of the Rebellion started he enlisted in Company C, Fifty-second Pennsylvania Volunteers, being a member of the company that the late Capt. W. S. Chatham, of this city commanded. Three daughters are left to mourn the loss of a kind father, two of whom, Mrs. George Wilking and Mrs. Ira H. Smith, reside in this city; and Miss E. May Devling, of Pittsburg. One sister, Mrs. R. K. Wilson, of this city, and one brother who resides at Moscow, Clay comity, Mo., also survives. Funeral services will be conducted at his late home at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon by Rev. J. A. MacSporran, pastor of Great Island Presbyterian church, of which deceased was a member. Interment will be made in Dunnstown cemetery. on November 28, 1908.3

He was born at Paxtonville, Snyder county, 71 years ago, and spent the greater part of his life at Jacksonville, Centre County coming to this city about 16 years ago. Deceased is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son, Mrs. H. P. Robb, this city, Miss Edith and Willard, at home. Funeral services were conducted at his late home Monday afternoon, and interment was made in the Dunnstown cemetery. on October 24, 1919.3
