     Orla Charles "Jerry" Cowgill O. Charles "Jerry" Cowgill died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 1978, shortly after being admitted to the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Hospital Emergency Room. Born in Kokomo on Sept. 24, 1909, he was the son of Frederick and Jeanette (McCartney) Cowgill. He was married in 1939 to Bernice Hobson, who died in 1948. He later married Betty Stephens, who survives. He was retired from the Kokomo Center Township Consolidated School Corp., where he had worked in the maintenance department, and currently was employed by Pinkerton Detective Agency. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. Other survivors include four daughters, Sharon Fleissner and Clar Adele Coy, Noblesville, Barbara Porter, Bringhurst, and Betty Cowgill, at home; a half sister, Freida Wheeler, Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.4 He was buried at Sunset Memory Garden, Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana.1,5 He was born on September 24, 1909 at Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana; His draft card has a birth date of Sep 23, 1909.6,3,1 He married Betty June Stephens, daughter of Leo Stephens Sr. and Cecil Jewel Mills, in December, 1948 at Howard Co., Indiana.1,2,4 Orla Charles "Jerry" Cowgill died on June 1, 1978 at Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana, at age 68.6,4,1

One daughter, one brother and two sisters are deceased. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Mitchell Funeral Home. Rev. Chester Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery here. on April 23, 1973.3

Jeraldine was born in Kokomo March 17, 1930 to Leon and Beulah (Antrim) Huddleston. Jeraldine was a stay at home mom and homemaker her entire life. In her later years in life, she enjoyed bird watching especially humming birds, which were among her favorite. Her greatest loves of all were her children and grandchildren. On November 23, 1947 she married the love of her life Francis Eugene Carlile and they spent 68 wonderful years of marriage together and they would raise four children. Jeraldine is survived by Daughters, Marita Etherington, Dianna (Jay) Evans, Teresa (Scotty) Burns and Son Richard (Lenita ) Carlile, Grandchildren Chris Jones, Danita Hall, Harley Griswold, Joshua Evans, Justin Marcum, Richie Carlile, and Ryan Carlile, Great- Grand Children, Halie Petersen, Kenzie Jones, Gracie Jones, Lillie Jones, Destin Irwin, Sammy Irwin, Haiden Hall, Braiden Hall, Brandon Griswold, Kaiden Griswold, Damon Marcum and Jackson Marcum. Great Great Grandchildren, Jai Petersen and Kobie Lee. Jeraldine was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Francis, Son in law Danny Etherington, Granddaughter Kim Onkes and two infant grandsons. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Century Villa for the care and love they provided for Jeraldine in the last several months and also Community Howard Regional Health for the outstanding care all of their staff provided. There will be a gathering of friends and family Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home 2097 West Alto Road Kokomo IN 46902 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. A funeral will be Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11 am at the funeral home with a one hour prior viewing and Pastor Dave Stout officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. on February 7, 2017.2
