He was born in Allendale on July 11 1913, the son of William and Clara (Leek) Moore and was a lifetime resident of Wabash County. In 1938. he was married to Blanche Rosignol in Henderson, Ky. and she survives. Also surviving are, his mother, Mrs. Clara Moore of Patton; three sons; T. Sgt. Larry K. Moore, stationed in Yokota, Japan; T. Sgt Jerry Lee Moore, Army Air Force; and Airman 1st Class William R. Moore; West Grand Forks, N.D. three brothers; Robert of Mt. Carmel; Donald of Peoria, Ill., Vernon A. of Plant City, Fla; sister Miss Edna Moore of Mt. Carmel, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Bernard E. Moore. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery. on October 27, 1969.3

He was born Jan. 7, 1917 in Allendale, Ill., to William and Clara (Leek) Moore. He lived most of his life in Mt. Carmel,Ill. and married Mary Jeanne Courter Moore on June 26, 1937 in Olney, Ill. He was a veteran of W.W. II having served four years as a pilot in the Army Air Corp. in the Air Transport Command and ferried planes all over the U.S. and Alaska. He also served overseas piloting planes filled with gasoline to service bombers and completed 72 missions flying the the "Hump" in the Himalayan Mountains. He then returned to Mt. Carmel and worked at Meissners for 10 years and retired from Potter and Brumfield in Princeton after 22 years. As a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mt. Carmel he served in various capacities for 23 years. For many years, he and his wife traveled the tri-state area co-ordinating lay witness missions while attending Evangle Temple (Oasis Assembly of God) in Princeton. He also wrote and published the book, "Light, Love and Life." More recently he and his wife attended the First General Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel, making that their church home. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister Bernard, Leslie, Donald and Edna Moore and an infant daughter. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Jeanne and his brother Vernon Moore. He is also survived by three children and their spouses; Ron and Phyllis Moore of Lexington, S.C; Angela and Larry Craig of Friendsville, Ill; and Sheila and Richard Strockbine. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and their spouses; Tim and Cheryl Moore, Bob Moore, Liz and Dick Oates, Kristina Johnson, Cindy and Rodger Shuey, Alexis and Mike Davis, Justin and Jennifer Strockbine, Jared and Nikki Strockbine and Jill and Brandon Kight; great-grandchildren Tom Moore, D.J. , Stephanie and Jessica Oates, Meagan, Kirsten and Ryan Moore, Bradley and Hannah Johnson, Chad Hurin, Jett and Shannon Shuey, Krystal Moore, Zachary Neikirk, Shelby Davis, Hunter and Noah Strockbine and Blake Kight. on December 18, 2003.5

She was a retired business partner with Hasler Fur Company in Noble and a member of Glenwood Church. She is survived by her husband; a son, Terry; a daughter, Sheila D. Story; three brothers, Wesley, Wayne, and Mark Grounds; four sisters, Mary Wesner, Alice Smith, Teletha Piper, and Jane Dipzinski; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lance; a brother, Ed; and a sister, June. Services were held at Glenwood Church in Noble, with Rev. Bill Rennels officiating.
