She would have been 98 years old on May 1. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson Williams and Nancy Ann Hudnall; sons, Paul Dean Basham and George Basham; the father of her children, George Carlos Basham; her late husband, Charles Willard; sisters, Clara Goldberg, Louise Garrison, Stella Hancock and Ruby Conn; and a brother, Cecil Williams. Surviving are a son, William "Bill" Basham; and daughters, Ann "Micki" Rude of Lady Lake, Florida, Mary Basham of South Charleston and Judith Ehrhardt of Charleston. Mae is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mae was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse who was in the first graduating class of LPNs in the state of West Virginia and the first who practiced at Charleston Memorial Hospital (now CAMC Memorial Hospital). Nursing was very dear to her and she was one of the best. She was a member of the Church of God in Charleston. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Church of God, 1704 Washington St. West, Charleston, WV 25312, or to the CAMC Foundation Nursing Scholarship Fund. Gratitude is extended to her niece, Lou Selby, who saw to her care in her later years, and the staff at Marmet Nursing Center, especially Miss Judy, who were very compassionate and caring to our mother during her last days. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Pryor Funeral Home, 148 Walnut Street, East Bank, with Evangelist Junior Totten and Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. on April 26, 2007.5

Mr. Basham is survived by his wife, Letitia Basham; son, Stephen Joel Basham of Dunbar; stepdaughter, Patricia Lynn Byers of Dunbar; mother, Mae Willard of Charleston; brother, Bill Basham of Charleston; sisters, Ann Rude of Lady Lake, Fla., Mary Basham of Charleston and Judith Ehrhardt of Ripley; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Andrew Kern and Elisabeth and Robert Byers. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. The family has requested that no flowers be sent and instead, request donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St., Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. on December 18, 2004.1
