He was born August 28, 1934 to the late Joseph Clarence and Ruby Conner Woods. A beloved husband and father, Mr. Woods was a retired Salesman for Krispy Kreme and Archway Cookies and was a faithful member of Faith Fellowship (Wirtz) for the last 20 years, previously an active member of New Life Christian Ministries (Roanoke). He loved Jesus and his wife with all of his heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Jean Pillow Woods; brother, Clarence Woods; and two infant brothers, Douglas and Joe Jr. Woods. Mr. Woods is survived by his devoted sons, Daniel (Gwen) Woods of Eden, N.C. and Anthony (Becky) Woods of Wirtz; nine grandchildren, Jim Woods, Timothy Tucker, Carrie (Adan) Zelaya, Anneke Woods, Caitlin (James) Vaughan, Danny Woods, Cara Woods, Asher Woods, and Corrin Woods; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Martinsville Health and Rehab and Sovah Health – Martinsville for the love and care shown during this time. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on November 22, 2020.2

He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Luther Galyean of Copper Hill, Katherine and Clay Giles of Copper Hill, Sandy Dehart, of Roanoke, and Mary and Leon Elkins, of Statesville, N.C. He is also survived by his brothers, Tommy Conner of Elliston, and John Conner of Bent Mountain, grandchildren Jolie, Jordan and Jonah Ingram of Floyd, special friends Shirley Sumner and Polly Hall, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mickey began playing music at age 10, teaching himself by emulating bluegrass masters on his mandolin in between bicycle rides and fishing trips. By the time he was a teenager, he and his brothers and sisters were picking together as a band and began competing at bluegrass festivals and fiddle and banjo clubs all around. Making appearances on local tv and radio programs, Mickey recorded bluegrass albums along with his brothers, Tommy and John, and other bluegrass professionals with band names including The Conner Brothers, Floyd County Boys, Clinton King and the Virginia Mountaineers and the Bluegrass Brothers. He was an accomplished mandolin and fiddle player, as well as harmony singer. In addition to being a talented musician, Mickey was a skilled tool maker, retired from Medeco Security Lock in Salem. He also enjoyed collecting Native American Indian relics and arrowheads. Funeral services will be arranged by Oakey's Funeral Service, South Chapel on Brambleton Ave, Roanoke. The family will have private visitation Friday, August 10 at 5 p.m. Public visitation is scheduled for Saturday at the funeral home at 5 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012, also at Oakey's South. Pastor Greg Mills and Pastor Marty Moyer will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County. on August 10, 2012.5

John began playing bluegrass as a young boy, quickly learning banjo tunes by the time he was 10 years old. He joined his older brothers, Mickey and Tommy to record with the bluegrass band, "The Conner Brothers", at age 12. Music played a dominant role in John's life as he spent much time practicing, performing and competing at bluegrass festivals and fiddle and banjo clubs. John is sadly missed by his family and friends, and we are grateful for John's belief in Jesus Christ for his salvation. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2012. The Rev. Marty Moyer will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County.
