GGs grandchildren are Evan, Andrew and her red haired special Sarah. Gaphred earned two college degrees from TCC in 1985. She enjoyed working and reluctantly retired from the City of Virginia Beach at the age of 75. She enjoyed over 2,000 volunteering at the Marine Science Museum. She was recognized as one of the most active volunteers in the City of Virginia Beach. She has helped support several overseas missionaries, and was always there for her friends. Gaphred was a rock for her family, and a pillar in her church, but they had to share her passion with the General Federation of Womans Club. Her involvement began with Brambleton Jr. Womans Club in Roanoke 1952 and continued with Cape Henry Womans Club as past-president (1971-1973), and a life member. She will be remembered and missed by many. Her good works will be long felt. Arrangements are under the care and direction of A.L. Bailey Funeral Home, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach, where the family will receive friends on Wed. from 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Virginia Beach United Methodist Church with the Rev.
