     Elizabeth Ann Tharpe was buried at Williams Cemetery, Rt. 42, on hill opposite Level Green Church, Craig Co., Virginia.^1,3 She was born on January 25, 1934 at Virginia.^3,2 As of July 5, 1992,her married name was Elmore.² She married Huey Preston Elmore, son of Jesse James Elmore and Cleo Clementine Kropff, on July 5, 1992 at Giles Co., Virginia.^1,2 Elizabeth Ann Tharpe died on October 2, 2001 at Virginia at age 67.^1,3 She ELMORE, Elizabeth T., (Liz), 67, of Newport, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001. Liz worked at Montgomery County Hospital as a nurses aid for ten years, then she worked for Heritage Hall Nursing Home before her retirement. Shortly after her retirement she began work as a private health care sitter. She was the daughter of the late Virginia Tharpe. She is survived by her husband, Huey P. Elmore of Newport; her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Roop Neves and Richard, Pamela Roop Vaught and Michael, all of Blacksburg; her sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel Alan and Linda Roop of Newport, Thomas Edward and Eliza Mason of Italy, and Robert David and Sherrie Mason of Blacksburg. She had five grandchildren, Chris Jordan, Lincoln Roop, Ryan and Julia Mason, and Matthew Vaught. She is also survived by one sister, Katie Cooper of Fredericksburg; one brother, Thomas Tharpe of Warrenton; and several nieces and nephews. We, the family, would like to give many thanks to Dr. McCoy and his wonderful staff and to the Carilion Hospice of the New River Valley. We, her children, are so grateful for her life and how strong and brave she was till the end. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Blacksburg Kingdom Hall. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery in Craig County. on October 5, 2001.
