Larry was a deputy sheriff for Botetourt County for many years, and an Ambassador for Rader Funeral Home for 63 years. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, former member of Troutville Church of the Brethren, Boy Scouts of America for 40 years, served on the Troutville Fire Department for 24 years, was a life member of Troutville Rescue Squad and served as a charter and life member of both. Larry served in the United States Army in the Army of Occupation following World War II and served during the Korean Conflict; was a life member of Troutville VFW Post #1841, and was a Master Mason with Boone Lodge #247 F&AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Smiley Scaggs Crawford October 17, 2003; brothers: Donald Crawford and Darrell Crawford; and his sister, Dorothy Giles. Larry is survived by his wife of nine years, Lois Caldwell Crawford; son, L. Lewis (Cindy) Crawford, Jr. of Troutville; grandchildren: Jeremiah Crawford, Jacob (Kelly) Crawford; great-grandchildren: Abigail and Landenn Crawford; brother, Ray Crawford; sisters: Nancy Bartell and Kathy Agee; numerous nieces and nephews.      Dorothy Agnes Crawford Dorothy Giles-McCray, 77, of Mill Creek, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Lewis Gale Medical Center following a long illness. Dorothy was born at home in Craig County October 3, 1936 and lived most of her life in Botetourt County. She was the daughter of the late Everett D. and Mary G. Gilbert Crawford. Dorothy loved gardening and flowers. She enjoyed bird watching and feeding the birds. She was also an avid NASCAR fan and reader. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James L. McCray, Sr; brothers Donald Crawford and Darrell Crawford. She is survived by her son and James L. McCray, Jr. (Karen Wirth); daughters and sons-in-law Crystal Anita and Edward Collins, Jr. of Fincastle, Rita Faye and Patrick McGrath and April Dawn and Joseph Weaver all of Eagle Rock; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Larry and Lois Crawford of Troutville and Garland Ray and Lottie Crawford of Rockbridge County; sisters and brothers-in-law Nancy and Charles Bartell of North Carolina, and Kathryn Lynn Agee (Jimmy) of Florida. Twenty-five of those years were spent as a nurse at the Fincastle Family Practice. Surviving are her husband, Marc G. Statler; sons, Darrell (Teresa) Hix, Christopher (Gail) Hix, and Kevin (Elizabeth) Hix; and grandchildren, Wyatt, Michaela, Christopher "Cole", Rebecca, Jarrod, Meaghan, Rachael, Dawson and Evan Hix.      Johnny Blair Hix was born on March 22, 1944 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3 He married Catherine Almira Dodd, daughter of Harold Aubrey Dodd and Lillie Mae Crawford, on June 18, 1966 at Fincastle, Botetourt Co., Virginia.² Johnny Blair Hix and Catherine Almira Dodd were divorced on June 21, 1995 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.¹ Johnny Blair Hix died on February 9, 2019 at Virginia at age 74.⁴ He Johnny Blair Hix, 74, of Fincastle, Va., passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Hix; sisters, Treva Foster and Betty Wills; and brother, Gary Hix. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Teresa Hix; Christopher and Gail Hix; and Kevin and Elizabeth Hix; grandchildren, Wyatt, Becca, Michaela, Jarrod, Meaghan, Dawson, Rachael, Cole, and Evan Hix; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene and Herschel Conner; Nancy Hix; and Patricia and John Joplin; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Her married name was Wilkinson.¹ Janet Bussinger married Unknown Wilkinson.¹ Janet Bussinger was born circa 1938 at Covington, Alleghany Co., Virginia.¹ She died on November 15, 2012 at New Jersey.¹ She On November 15, 2012, Janet B. Wilkinson, 74, of Voorhees. N.J. (formerly of Burlington, N.C.), died. She was the loving mother to Steven Wilkinson and his wife Nancy of Haddon Township, N.J. She is also survived by her sister Brenda Bussinger-Roarke of Mebane, N.C; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Janet was the daughter of the late James and Lucille Bussinger. Born in Covington, Va., she was raised in Swepsonville, N.C. She retired from Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington in 2002 where she was a Certified Nursing Assistant. Janet moved to N.J. to be closer to her son and family. She enjoyed retirement, adopting a Maltese dog named Max, daily walks in Rancocas Woods and chatting with neighbors. Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Hinski-Tomlinson Funeral Home, 81 Haddon Ave., Haddonfield N.J.
