Betty Jean Rodgers Betty Poff passed away Nov. 2, 2019 at Covenant Specialty Hospital. Betty was born Feb. 4, 1938 to Joe and Faye Rodgers in Kerrville Tx. Betty grew up in the hill country where she went on to attend Tivy High School and it was there she met the love of her life Joe Poff. Betty and Joe later married and moved to New York City while Joe served in the US Army. Upon Joe being discharged from the army they moved to Lubbock Texas to start their family and live a long happy life together. Betty took great pride in her home and raising her two sons. After her boys were older she took a job at what was then Methodist Hospital working in the physicians lounge for many years. Upon retiring Betty and Joe took great pleasure in working around their home and spending time with their grandson James. Betty was a member of St Lukes Methodist Church where she looked forward to attending services and worshiping the lord every Sunday. Betty was proceeded in death by parents and her brother, Joe Rodgers Jr. and his wife Laverne of Blanco, Texas. She is survived by her husband Joe of 64 years, sons Bobby of Tioga, North Dakota, Ronnie and his wife Mindy of Lubbock, three grandchildren, her favorite Aunt Peggy Eckles of Magazine, Arkansas, and her best little four legged friend Gigi (her 10 year old toy fox terrier).3 She was born on February 4, 1938 at Kerrville, Kerr Co., Texas.4,3 As of January 14, 1955,her married name was Poff.1 She married Joseph Malachi "Joe" Poff, son of Theodore Poff and Sarah Elkins, on January 14, 1955 at Kerr Co., Texas.1,2 Betty Jean Rodgers died on November 2, 2019 at Lubbock, Lubbock Co., Texas, at age 81.3,4

Born May 23, 1935 in Elgood, he was the son of the late Zinnie Edward Conner and Leonia Hazelwood Conner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamey Conner; along with three siblings, Bonnie Mae Conner, Harold Glenn Conner and John "J.C." Conner. Mr. Conner was well known and respected highly for his knowledge and abilities to restore automobile frames, doing business for garages and the private sector throughout the United States. He was also the owner and operator of Conner's Garage in Princeton. He was a dedicated and devoted member of Mt. Jackson Regular Baptist Church in Athens. Mr. Conner was an avid WVU Mountaineer Fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, NASCAR racing and camping with family and friends at Moncove Lake in Monroe County, W.Va. Most of all, he loved his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his caring and devoted wife of 55 and one half years, Delma Jean Honaker Conner; along with their six children, Lawrence Conner Jr. and wife Pat, Debbie Horeluk, Glenna Woodring and husband Gary, Janet Conner-Lewis and husband Kenneth II, all of Princeton, Kathy Conner and husband Greg of Greenville, S.C., Becky Chambliss and husband Brice of Sorrento, Fla; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Norma Ramos and husband Glen, Carolyn Conner, Zinnie Conner Jr. and wife Deborah, all of Princeton. A service of celebration will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2010 from the Mt. Jackson Regular Baptist Church in Athens with Pastors Charley Rice and Sam Vance officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton. A time of gathering and sharing with the family will be held Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton and one hour prior to services at the church. Mr. Conner's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. on November 25, 2010.1
