Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been ill for a year. He was a section foreman for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway for 40 years. Iddings was a member of the Community Christian Church, Brotherhood of Maintenance of ways Employees and Degree of Honor Protective Association. Born at Hinton, Oct. 10, 1906, He was a son of the late William and Daisy Meadows Iddings. Survivors include his wife, Glada M. Hatcher Iddings; four brothers, Roy of Montgomery and Roscoe, Harold, and Archie, all of Richmond, Va; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Cody of Marie and Mrs. Rose Belcher of Lynchburg, Va; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Maxine Harford and Mrs. Anna Sue Barker, both of Hinton, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be in the Community Christian Church at 4 p.m. Thursday with Rev. John F. Atkinson in charge. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery near Marie. The body will remain at the E. M. Meadows Funeral Home and will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral. on August 20, 1969.6

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow Cody; five brothers, Roy, Charlie, Jess, Harold and Roscoe Iddings; and a sister, Rose Belcher. Survivors include a son, James William Iddings and wife, Helen, of Greensboro, N.C; a brother, Archie Iddings and wife, Gladys, of Richmond, Va; three grandsons, Michael Iddings and wife, Vicki, Kevin Iddings and wife, Julie, and Jeffrey Iddings and wife, Penny; six great-grandchildren, Courtney, Kristin, Cody, Jordan, Bryan and Jake Iddings; a special nephew and niece, Emerald Neal of Clinton, Mich., and Willa Whetsel of Union, who were especially loved and looked upon as her own. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at New Hope Methodist Church, Marie with the Revs. Sam Groves and Ronnie Iddings officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton, and one hour before service Thursday at the church. Arrangements by Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton on June 26, 2002.4

Survivors include his wife, Alice; a son, David of Richmond; three brothers, Roy of Montgomery and Archie of Roscoe, both of Richmond, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. Eba Cody of Marie and Mrs. Rose Belcher of Beard. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Drake in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will arrive at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Friday morning where friends may call after noon. on March 4, 1971.5

Born Jan. 20, 1917, at Marie, he was the son of the late William J. and Daisy Meadows Iddings. Mr. Iddings was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He had a trade union career that spanned more than three decades. He was hired as a bus operator for the former Virginia Transit Co. (now the Greater Richmond Transit Co.) Always a union activist, he was elected vice president of Local 1220 of the Amalgamated Transit Union in 1958, and president of the local in 1960. As vice president of the Virginia State AFL-CIO and the Amalgamated Transit Union, Mr. Iddings was a principal lobbyist on labor, consumer and public interest issues in the General Assembly. In addition to the post with the Virginia State AFL-CIO and the Amalgamated Transit Union, Iddings was also president of the Richmond Regional Labor Council, a member of the Mayor's Committee for the Handicapped, a trustee for the United Way of Greater Richmond (now United Way Services), a director for the Richmond Community Action Program and a member of the City Democratic Council. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gladys Gill Iddings; two daughters, June Iddings Williams and husband, Joe, of Portsmouth, Va., and Darla Iddings Reynolds and husband, Scott, of Alexandria, Va; two grandchildren, Joseph D. Schneider and wife, Marcia, and Rebecca S. Bunce and husband, Doug, and three great-granddaughters, Jessica, Madison and Jordan, all of Portsmouth. Service will be 4 p.m. today at Bliley Funeral Homes, Chippenham Chapel, Richmond. The body will be returned to Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton, where friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Survivors include a daughter, Lois Welch and husband, Milford, of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren, Randy Welch of Kernersville, N.C., Bob Welch and wife, Crissy, of Scott Depot and Cindy Doucette of McLean, Va; two great-grandchildren, Oak Leslie Welch and Brooke Ivy Welch; a sister-in-law, Carrie Davis; and several nieces and nephews.Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at New Hope United Methodist Church, Marie, with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Dart Iddings; one son, Steve and Nancy Iddings of Flatwoods; two daughters, Charlotte and Don Martell of Gurnee, Ill., and Peggy and Marty Coburn of Jacksonville, Fla; five grandchildren, Mike Shaffer, Joshua Iddings, Jamie Iddings, Brittnee Iddings, and Bryan Coburn; and one great grandchild, Jordan Ray Mullens. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by the Rev. Wayne Watts. Burial will be in the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Military graveside services will be performed by the American Legion Post 276 of South Shore. Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hall and Sarah "Sally" Pate, on June 25, 1836 at Franklin Co., Virginia.1 As of June 25, 1836,her married name was Hall. Lydia M. "Liddie" Thrash died on September 2, 1897 at Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, at age 83.2,6,4 She Mrs. Lydia M. Hall died yesterday surrounded by four generations of descendants. Another old pioneer and long time resident of Kansas City passed away when Mrs. Lydia M. Hall, 83 years old, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Lydia A. Bonds, 321 Troost avenue at 6 o'clock last evening. She came to Kansas City forty-six years ago and settled on a farm in the eastern suburbs of the city. At the time of her death there were four generations of her descendants in the house with her. She leaves a son, Jesse Hall, a farmer living near Independence, another, John M. Hall who lives in LaCygne, Kas; a daughter, Mr. Mahala Reed of Maywood, Mo., and the daughter with whom she lived. The old lady was familiar with all the early history of this section and the thrilling stories that she used to tell of early frontier life would fill a book. The funeral and made arrangements have not been made. on September 3, 1897.6

Born July 22, 1919, in Marie, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Gustavus J. and Martha A. Light Simmons. Mrs. Hatcher had been a resident of Ft. Spring for 50 years and was previously of Raleigh County, member of Fort Spring Missionary Baptist Church, retired from the Federal Prison in Alderson and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ira “Tom” Hatcher; three sisters, Fern Flower and Jim, Nell Graham and Roy and Ruth Davis and Bill; three brothers, Earl Simmons and Ida, Ralph Simmons and Addie, Joe Simmons and Libby; two nieces and a nephew. Survivors include two daughters, Martha Ann Colleran and Nora Lee Chestnut both of Ft. Spring; a son, George Simmons of Alderson; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the Fort Spring Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Fort Spring. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. on October 30, 2012.3

Light, a retired wastewater operator at Union, was a native of Forest Hill, Summers County. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Surviving: wife, Christine Burks Light; son, Van O'Neil Light of Picayune, Miss; daughter, Norma Elaine Light of Arlington, Va; brothers, Vey D. Light of Creamery, Zane Light of Stuart, Fla; sisters, Mrs. Shelia Huffman and Mrs. Boots Cochran, of Alderson; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, is in charge of arrangements. on September 4, 1985.7
