Born August 24, 1884 in Stotts City, Missouri, she died Friday in a Checotah nursing home after a long illness. She had been a resident of Checotah several years and a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include a sister-in-law Mrs. Lou Jernigan of Checotah and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers included Gene Spaulding, Dewey Browning, Tom Ritchie, Herb Hayes and Eldon Ramsey, Arthur Lucas. on November 22, 1973.2

Survivors include two daughters, Dixie Clonts and Nita May of Arizona; a son, Larry Dixson of Oklahoma; three sisters, Margaret Dixon and Bette Sanders of Checotah and Ann Humphrey of Norman, Okla; two brothers, Clyde Jernigan of Portland and Lloyd Jernigan of Checotah; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; two sisters, Georgia Downs and Jessie Tackett; and a brother, Dewey Jernigan. on September 2, 2003.2
