     Maude Ellen Alfred was buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 1521 South Carpenter Drive, Covington, Alleghany Co., Virginia.1 Her married name was Wimmer.2 She married Robert Clarence "R.C." Wimmer Jr., son of Robert Clarence Wimmer Sr. and Willie Mae Rusher.1 Maude Ellen Alfred was born on December 16, 1925.1 She died on December 3, 2006 at Virginia at age 80.1 She Maude Ellen Alfred Bush Wimmer, 80, died on December 3, 2006. She was born on December 16, 1925, to Dora Lynn Alfred and Andrew J. Alfred. She spent her childhood and early adult years in Covington, Va., and graduated from Covington High School. She played basketball and was a majorette for the Covington High School Band. Working as a pharmacy technician until her 80th year, Maude was a faithful and loyal employee of Brooks-Byrd Pharmacy in Salem for 35 years; there she came to know and love many of the customers who became dear friends. She loved gardening and was known for her beautifully manicured yard and flowers. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Colburn L. Bush; and her second husband, Robert C. Wimmer, Jr. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Pauline Lynn and Frances Catherine Alfred; and a brother, A.J. Alfred, Jr. She is survived by her son, Colby Bush, and his wife, Kimberly; daughters, Rebecca Bush George, and husband, George, Tracie Bush Baetz, and husband, Mark, and Tana Bush Alderman, all of Salem, Va. She is also survived by her dearly loved grandchildren, Shane Bush, of Charlotte, N.C., Ashley Bush, of Roanoke, Nathan Mahan, of Boston, Mass., Logan George and David George of Salem, Va; and special friend, Julia Yeargan, of WinstonSalem, N.C. Maude devoted her life to working hard and providing a home for her family, who knew that her love and support surrounded them always. The family is grateful for the kindness of the 2 West staff at Richfield Retirement Center. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at noon at the Lotz Salem Chapel with Chaplain Charles Gwaltney officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Salem Chapel. on December 4, 2006.1

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Benita and Maynard Lackey of Collinsville; a granddaughter and her husband, Jean Marie and Thomas McLean Nelson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a grandson and wife, Jeffrey Maynard and Charlene Tyree Lackey of Charlottesville; great-grandson, Alexander Tyree Lackey, also of Charlottesville; two stepbrothers, Freeman Slusher and George Slusher, both of Floyd; a stepsister, Dotte Cock of Galax. She was a member of Floyd Baptist Church and a former Sunday School Teacher. A graduate of Radford College, she taught in Floyd Public County Schools for 29 years before retiring. Then she taught in the Adult Education Program for several years. Mrs. Dickerson was a member of Patrick Henry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Historical Society of Floyd County, the Floyd County Women's Club, the Floyd County Homemakers, the Retired Teachers Association, the Floyd Rebekah Lodge of which she served as Nobel Grand, the Friendship Club, the XYZ Club, the Bassett Senior Citizens and the AARP. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at the Floyd Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel H. She was a member of the Martinsville-Henry County Retired Teachers, NEA, VEA, Patrick Henry DAR, the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, the Cameo Club, the Floyd County Historical Society, The Red Hat Racers, the Friendship Club, Betty Westover Mission Group and a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville. Mrs. Lackey is survived by her daughter, Jean Marie Nelson (Tom); one son, Jeffrey Maynard Lackey (Debbie); four grandchildren, Rachel Lynn Nelson, Alexander Tyree Lackey, Thomas McLean Nelson, Nicholas Paul Lackey; two sister-in-laws, Nancy Lackey Edelen, Evelyn Lackey White; two brother-in-laws, Finney Edelen and Connie Turman. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Reverend Larry Cheek officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. on June 23, 2019.6
