(Enevoldsen) Dillon. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Arnold High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 and completed an overseas tour of duty in Korea. After his honorable discharge, he married Betty Werner on August 26, 1956 at Steele, N.D. He graduated with a B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1960. His first teaching assignment was in Webster, S.D. where he taught from 1960 to 1963, during which he was granted a year Institute by the National Science Foundation at the University of S.D. He taught during 1964-65 at Benson, Minnesota. He began his teaching career in Mandan in 1965 and received his Masters Degree from N.D.S.U. in Fargo in 1974. He retired in 1989. His wife Betty died in December of 1992. He will be remembered fondly by many, including his many students and colleagues. Jerry was a member of the Mandan Eagles, Elks and American Legion Clubs. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by those who survive him, including three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela and Bill Berger, Ronda and Steve Blazer and Cheryl Dillon, all of Mandan; seven grandchildren, Billie Jo and Bobbie Joe Berger, Jeremy, Mindy and Cory Blazer, all of Mandan, Jay Jr. and Michael Bushee, Colstrip, Montana; one great-granddaughter, Ashley, of Mandan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ardelle and Dave Sheets of Loveland, Colorado, Janet and Harold Richards of Gillette, Wyoming and Allison Dillon of North Platte, Nebraska; three brothers and sisters-in-laws, Russell and Mary of Billings, Montana, Darrell and Ginger of Casper, Wyoming and Craig and Marsha of Sheridan, Wyoming; one brother-in-law and his wife, Duane "Swede" and Diane Werner of Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; and one granddaughter.2 He was born on June 19, 1932 at Gandy, Logan Co., Nebraska.1,2,3 He married Betty Jeanine Werner on August 26, 1956 at Steele, Kidder Co., North Dakota.2,7,3 Gerald Grant Dillon died on June 13, 1994 at age 61.1,3

Smith, 89, who passed away Sunday, July 5th in Callaway. The Rev. Gerald Schwarz officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. C.D. Quig, Mrs. Marvin Weber, and Mrs. Wes Larreau. Honorary pallbearers were Eastern Star Rex Chapter No. 137 members. Pallbearers were Craig Smith, Dirk Rose, Robbi Smith, Lindy Smith, Todd Smith, Derek Rose, and Joey Smith. Survivors include her husband, Mynor; her children, Mr. and Mrs. Don W. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie D. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Max C. Smith, all of Arnold, and Mrs. Bonnie Rose of Riverside, California; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Cecil M. Smith was born January 10, 1898 to Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Nansel southeast of Arnold. She passed away July 5th at the Callaway Hospital at the age of 89 years, five months and 25 days. She grew up in the Callaway and Arnold area with her eight brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. After Cecil was graduated from Arnold High School with the Class of 1915, she taught for four years in the elementary schools. She was united in marriage to Mynor Smith on August 27, 1919. To this union three sons and one daughter was born. For 75 years, Mrs. Smith has taken a very active role in the Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, playing the piano, and participating in the Women's Society. The people of Arnold and surrounding community fondly remember her as music teacher, 4-H Club leader, Eastern Star member, Past Worthy Matron, and friend and neighbor. A memorial to the Methodist Church in Arnold has been established. Arnold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Arnold Cemetery.3 She was buried at Arnold Cemetery, 1 mile south on Highway 40, Arnold, Custer Co., Nebraska.3 She was born on January 10, 1898 at Nebraska.4,3 She married Mynor Andrew Smith, son of Jacob Hannibal Smith and Stella Meriam Dillon, on August 27, 1919 at Arnold, Custer Co., Nebraska.1,2,3 As of August 27, 1919,her married name was Smith. Bom Feb. 7, 1905, in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Dahl and Maude E. Gillispie Hall. She was a self-employed housekeeper most of her life and a grandmother to many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Woodring Grimm; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several brothers; and one sister. Survivors include five children, William Paul Cecil of Christiansburg, Va., Robert L. Cecil and wife, Ila of Odessa, Del., Jean Lilly Hall of Princeton, Earl C. Cecil of Princeton, and James A. Everidge and wife, Norma of Lerona; sisters, Dorothy Harvey and Voni Bell, both of Princeton; brother, Thurman Hall of Princeton; special friend and caregiver, Janet Shrewsbury; 34 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at ll a.m. Saturday from the Bums Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Gary Lamie officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery on the Halls Ridge Road, Princeton. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. on September 29, 2000.8
