     Roy Edward Howell was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas.7,8 His Social Security Number was 466-18-8780.9 He was born on April 11, 1911 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,9,3 He married Marguerite Ackermann on December 31, 1933 at Comal Co., Texas.10,11,8 Roy Edward Howell died on August 29, 1993 at San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas, at age 82.9,3,4,8 He Roy E. Howell was an electrician who worked for Vollmer Electric Co. He also was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union for 50 years. About 15 years ago, Howell retired on a disability after falling from a ladder and damaging his right hand. He also had an enlarged heart. Howell died in a hospital Sunday of a massive heart attack. He was 82. A native of Roanoke, Va., he attended school until the eighth grade before joining the Army and completing his education. In 1931, Howell came to San Antonio and learned the electrician's trade. He met his future wife, Marguerite Ackermann, and they were married Dec. 31, 1933, and eventually became the parents of one child. After becoming disabled, he took care of the Laurel Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church yard until three months ago. He had always been active in the church and served as head deacon several times during his 50 years as deacon. "My father was a very friendly man who greeted people when they entered the church," said his daughter, Arlene Pittman of San Antonio. "Everyone loved him. The young women regarded him as their grandpa and hugged him when they saw him. "He also enjoyed working in his own yard and raising flowers. His favorite was the rose. My father loved working outside and had no bad habits. "He had recently broken his kneecap in three places and underwent replacement surgery Aug. 20. My father was recuperating until three days later when he suffered the heart attack and stroke." Additional survivors are his wife of 59 years; a sister, Pauline Basham of Roanoke, Va; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. on August 31, 1993.8

Clower, on June 28, 1905 at Gilliam, McDowell Co., West Virginia; This was the second marriage for Rosa. She was previously married to a Mr. Sperry and had 4 children with him.4 Jerusha Luevina "Rosie" "Rosa" Elswick died on December 7, 1957 at Windmill Gap, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 86.1,2,3 She Dec. 9 - Mrs. Rosie Elswick Conner, 86, died Saturday at 2:45 p.m. at the home of a son, William Sperry, Windmill Gap, near McComas. She was born Nov. 21, 1871 and was a member of the Prosperity Methodist Church, Mercer County. Surviviors include two other sons, Robert Sperry, Beckley; Clyde Conner, Crumpler; and three daughters, Mrs. Faye Moran, Mullens; Mrs. Josie Graham, McComas, and Mrs. Mary Beggs, Route 3, Bluefield. Burial was to be made in Harmon Cemetery. on December 10, 1957.1

Born in Arlington, he was a son of the late Costley and Rosie Elswick Conner. He was a retired miner and had retired from United Pocahontas Co., at Crumpler in 1953. He was a member of UMWA Local 6033. He had been a resident of Rt. 2, Rock, for most of his life and was a member of the United Methodist Church at Prosperity. Surviving are his widow, Maxine Bailey Conner; two sons, Clyde Vinyard Conner Jr., of Princeton and David Ronald Conner of Sumpter, S. C; three sisters, Mrs. Faye Moran of Sterling, Va., Mrs. Mary Beggs of Bluewell and Mrs. Cletus Brown of Lashmeet; and three grandsons. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Charles Wilfong officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. P allbearers: George Oster, Junior White, Billy Johnson, Albert Hylton, Dayton Settle and Luieco Lawson. Honorary pallbearers: Charles V. Cox, Andy Hodges, Howard Aster, ladies of the United Methodist Church of Prosperity will serve as flowerbearers. on October 10, 1973.5
