Irene possessed many special talents and has devoted her life to her family, her church, her extended family which has included her many foreign exchange students. Irene has volunteered many years at Camp Bethel and has been a past member of the Troutville Rescue Squad, she is known as a hard worker and loved the outdoors. Her passions were her flower gardens and woodworking with her late husband Earl. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years Earl L. Thacker (1924 2000), parents, Ernest V. and Clarice H. Conner, brother, Leander Conner and infant sister Ernestine Conner. Irene is survived by her beloved son, Dale Thacker and his wife Judy, step-son Mike Thacker and his wife Connie of N.C; one stepgrandson, one stepgranddaughter, two step-great grandsons and one step-great granddaughter; siblings, Christine Gibson, Mary Howell and her husband, Robert, Riley Conner and his wife, Kathryn, Myrtle Conner and Cassie Lowe; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and many friends. Friends are welcome to call Saturday, August 13, 2005 form 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, August 14, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. A service celebrating Irene's life will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at New Bethel Church of the Brethren, Nace Road near Camp Bethel with Pastor Chris Foster, Pastor Weldon Myers and Pastor Judy Mills officiating. Virginia is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Wanda Howell, of Montvale, and Robert and Lynda Howell, of Franklin County; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary Donaldson (Paul Porgorzelski) of Dallas, N.C., and Dorothy and Ronnie Whorley, of Bedford; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Riley Conner, of Cloverdale; and sisters, Myrtle Conner and Cassie Lowe, both of Nace. The family would like to acknowledge, with special thanks, her caregiver and granddaughter, Stephanie Howell. Funeral Services honoring Virginia's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with the Reverend Jerry Naff officiating. Cassie retired from General Electric after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren, was a certified nursing assistant, midwife, and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her parents, Cassie was preceded death by her husband, John Paul Lowe; several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Jackie Guilliams (Patsy Standifer) and Ernie (Janice) Guilliams all of Bonsack; daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Richard Hull of Cloverdale; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Riley Conner of Cloverdale; and a sister, Myrtle Conner of Nace. A celebration of Cassie's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Troutville Church of the Brethren, 5133 Lee Highway, Troutville with Pastor Terry Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, 3959 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018; or to Turning Point Services, The Salvation Army of Roanoke, 724 Dale Ave SE, Roanoke, Virginia 24013. on February 23, 2016.4

Roger was born in Floyd County on January 6, 1942, a son of the late Frank and Arrietta Muncy Holland. Roger married the love of his life, Rosetta Warfe on December 23, 1961. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2006 after 44 years of marriage. Roger was retired after 30 years from Blue Ridge Transfer where he worked as a warehouseman. Roger loved woodworking, fishing and working in his yard. Roger leaves to cherish his memory two loving daughters, Tammy Holland Smith and her husband Chad and Kathy Holland Moats and her fiancé Mark Philpott; a sister, Carol Hall and her husband Landon of Roanoke; three brothers, Gerald Holland and his wife JoAnn, Larry Holland, David Holland and his wife, Diane; half brothers, Doug and Don Holland; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Hackley and Claudine Shepherd. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jonathan Smith, Christi, Beth and Kayla Moats.
