Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Robert Thorne officiating. Interment will follow in Stuart Cemetery. Hudgins graduated from Virginia Tech and worked for the state Health Department as a sanitarian. He belonged to the Stuart Lions Club, the Rotary and Floyd Country Club. He held a lifetime membership in the Patrick County Jaycees, and he belonged to the Stuart United Methodist Church. Hudgins also had served in the Navy. Surviving are five sons, Lee W. Hudgins and R.B. Hudgins III, both of Stuart, Doug Elder of Forest, John Elder of Fairfax and Robert Elder of Tampa, Fla; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moody's Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Clyde DeLoach. Burial will be in Stuart cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Patrick County Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard. A memorial service for Mr. Hudgins will be held Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stuart United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Shepherd officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
