Left to cherish his memory are three sisters, Catherine, Margie, and Elaine; sons, Stacy (Brenda) Graham of Check, Tracy Graham of Lynchburg; stepchildren, Debra (Randy) Feury of Vinton, Jim (Ingrid) Jones of Amburg, Germany, Gary Jones of Roanoke, and Barry Jones of Fuquay Varina, N.C. He will also live in the memories of 12 grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces; and nephews. Ralph grew up in Floyd County. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served on the USS Casa Grande LSD-13. He drove tractor-trailers for years and finally retired from the maintenance department at Roanoke Valley Psychiatric Center of Salem. Interment will follow in Daleville Cemetery. on December 17, 2015.3

"Demoss" Akers died on September 28, 1946 at Paynes Creek, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 92.1,2 He DeMorse Akers, 92, died at his home in the Payne's Creek section today. The funeral will be held at Payne's Creek church Monday at 2 p.m. and internment will be in Payne's Creek cemetery. (he was actually buried in Howery-Cannaday Cemetery) Surviving are his wife, nine children, including Mrs. Walter Martin, Salem, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Akers was a son-in-law of James Cannaday, Confederate veteran. on September 28, 1946.2

Ella Mae Allen died on June 16, 2009 at Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 96.3 She Ella Mae Manning, 96, of Copper Hill, Va., passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. She is survived by her four children, Linda and Robert Wright, William Garland Manning, William Dennis Manning and Frank and Maxine Moran, all of Copper Hill; eight grandchildren, Johnny Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Chris Johnson, Teresa and Brian Tunstall, Kim and Brandin Keith, Dana and Chad Miano, Michele and Mike Harmon, and Sonya and Tony Griffith; and 14 greatgrandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd with the Rev. Maurice Wright officiating. Interment will be held at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd, Va. on June 17, 2009.3
