She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin J. and Mary J. Alderman; her loving husband of 50 years, Ernest Edward Epperly and her siblings, Sam Alderman and Ruby Epperly. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Faye Woods and her son, Bobby and daughter in-law, Lynn Epperly; her brother, Alvin J. Alderman; five grandchildren, Kay, Michael, Terry, David and Cindy; five great-grandchildren, Scott, Alex, Mac, Seth and Miranda; and four great-great grandchildren, Alice, Pearl, Ainsleigh and Mason. Mary was a kind spirit who never met a stranger. She was so loving and had an infectious laugh. Mary retired from Imperial Reading after 25 years of service. After retirement she loved going on trips with the RSVP. Mary and Ruby won numerous awards for the many miles traveled together. Mary was a great cook and made the best rolls, chicken and dumplings and apple pies. She also loved to crochet and work in her flower garden. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of C wing at Highland Ridge for all their great care during her illness. A special thanks to Shannon and Dora for their care and loving Mary as their own. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va. on October 16, 2016.2

She was the Youth Director in Covington Granby Memorial United Methodist Church and Charleston, W.Va. St. Marks United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Claude R. Collins and brother, the Rev. Linwood J. Stevenson. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Jean Collins and life partner, Judith Lawrence, of Rochester, N.Y., and Mary Elizabeth Floyd and husband, Billy E. Epperly Sr. died on July 13, 2005 at Chesapeake, Virginia, at age 92.1,4 He George Wilson (G.W.) Epperly, 92, of Christiansburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2005. He was born to John and Grace Rogers Epperly on December 10, 1912 in the Sugar Grove area of Montgomery County. He had resided for the past three years in Norfolk, Va. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 35 years of service in the Signal Department. He was a dedicated Christian and a loving, caring, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his dear and devoted wife, Ruth Maxey Epperly and his first-born son, John Roger Epperly. Surviving family members include one brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Thelma Epperly; one daughter-in-law, Doris Richardson Epperly; one daughter and son-in-law, Eva Jo and Ernie Dove; two sons, George W. Epperly, Jr. and Daniel Neil Epperly; five loving grandchildren, Doris Jennene Matheney, Shanna and David Simmons, Wesley and Chrissy Dove, Missy and Greg Pfaff, and Harmony Ruth Epperly; seven cherished great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and numerous extended family and friends. He was a life-long faithful member and trustee of Oak Grove Church, and he greatly loved worshiping there and enjoyed being in the presence of his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Virginia Beach Estates, Allzwell Assisted Living Center and Odyssey Health Care for their loving care and assistance. on July 15, 2005.1

Jack Willie Trump Jack W. Trump, 84, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 8, 2021. He was born in Montgomery County to the late Willie and Edith Trump. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Frankie Sowers. Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Nancy Trump; daughter, Antoinette St. Clair (Terry); grandson, Canaan St. Clair; sister, Joyce Sowers; nephew, Greg Sowers (Sharon); great-nieces, Ashley Gusler (Cody), Amber Sowers (Devin); a host of cousins and many friends, including Stacy Keith, who was like a son. Jack spent many years at Angles Grocery where he touched so many lives. He has been at the Dodge Dealership in Floyd since 1993, and a lifelong farmer. Jack was a member and Deacon of Oak Grove Church and an honorary member of Christiansburg Rescue Squad. Joyce Anne Trump Joyce Trump Sowers, a beloved member of the Christiansburg community and a cherished friend, passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 8, 1934, Joyce devoted much of her life to her family and career, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Joyce's professional journey began in 1952 when she launched her banking career at the Bank of Christiansburg. Over the years, she worked diligently in every area of the bank, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and customers alike. Joyce made countless friends within the banking community, who will remember her warmth, dedication, and unwavering support. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joyce was deeply involved in her church, Oak Grove Church, where she played piano and served as a bookkeeper. Her faith and devotion to serving the Lord were apparent in her daily life, and she loved her church family dearly, offering her time and talents readily. Joyce is survived by her son Gregory Sowers and his wife Sharon; granddaughters Ashley Gusler and her husband Cody, and Amber Martin and her husband Devin; as well as her great-granddaughter, Willow Jade Gusler, who brought her immense pride and joy. In addition to her immediate family, Joyce is remembered fondly by her sister-in-law Nancy Trump and her family—Terry, Ann, and Canaan St Clair—and her best friend, Ocie McNeil, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edith Trump; her husband, Frank L. Sowers; and her brother, Jack Trump. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and their memories will continue to live on through the stories shared by those who knew and loved her. Joyce Trump Sowers will be deeply missed, remembered for her unwavering kindness, her love for her family, her strong work ethic, and her devoted service to her church and community.
