William Thomas Abernethy1

     William Thomas Abernethy was buried at Barnesboro Cemetery, Barnesboro, Cambria Co., Pennsylvania.1 His Social Security Number was 193-10-2487.2 He was born on June 22, 1890 at Houtzdale, Clearfield Co., Pennsylvania.2,1 He married Clara Bena Wheby, daughter of Charles Lewis Wheby Sr. and Rose Belle Leighton, circa 1972.3,1 William Thomas Abernethy died on November 18, 1975 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 85.2,1 He William Thomas Abernethy, 84, of 194 Third St., Princeton, died in a Princeton hospital Tuesday follow ing a long illness. Born in Houtzdale, Pa., he was a son of the late William and Sarah Bron Abernethy. He was a retired mine foreman with 58 years of experience and had lived in Princeton for the past 15 years, coming from Montgomery. He was a member of the Princeton Presbyterian Church, Princeton Moose Lodge No. 1521, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1960 at Montgomery and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 131 in Portage, Pa., and the Smokeaters of the National Mine Rescue Association Post I in Welch. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Swansboro Abernethy, one brother and three sisters. Surviving are his Widow, Mrs. Clara Wheby Conner Abernethy; one son, William E. Abernethy of Barnesboro, Pa; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Dorthea) Timms of Charleston and Mrs. Howard (Beatrice) Bowser of Athens; one step-son, Kenneth Conner of Princeton; four step-daughtrs, Mrs. Raymond (Jeanette) Casey, Mrs. James (Betty) Sparks and Mrs. James (Phyllis) Posey, all of Princeton, and Mrs. Jack (Clara Lee) Mullin of Jacksonville, Fla; one brother, George Abernethy of Detroit, Mich; 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at ll a.m. Saturday at Long Funeral Home in Barnesboro, Pa., with Rev. David Ryder officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnesboro Cemetery. The body will remain at George W. Seaver Mortuary in Princeton where friends may call today from 7 until 9 p.m. The body will be taken to Barnesboro Thursday for funeral and burial. on November 19, 1975.1
