She was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church, and she and her husband owned and operated the Triangle Cafe in Buena Vista for many years. She is survived by her husband, Walter Coleman; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Suzanne Coleman; a daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Edward Matheny; a brother, J.D. McDaniel; a sister, Esteleen Pugh, all of Buena Vista; four devoted grandchildren, Carrie Coleman, Lindsey Coleman, David Coleman and Abby Matheny. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 2, 1993, at 2 p.m., at the Buena Vista Baptist Church, with Dr. Chip Pendleton and the Rev. Marc Sherrod officiating, with burial to follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington. The family suggests contributions be made to the Parry McCluer High School Student Fund. The family will receive friends on Wednesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista. on September 1, 1993.1

She was born March 20, 1958 in Lexington, Va., the daughter of Walter V. Coleman and the late Dorothy G. Coleman. Felicia was employed by Virginia Military Institute for 35 years. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail, but also for her compassion in helping employees and family members with health insurance, pensions and other benefits. Her abilities and skills were recognized by Governor Tim Kaine in 2009, when he personally presented her with the Governor's Award for Public Service. She also received numerous VMI awards. She was involved in many community activities, including the FOP Auxiliary, where she held the office of secretary on both the state and local levels, PMHS Blues Athletic Boosters Club, Buena Vista Presbyterian Church Annual Bazaar Committee and volunteered many years to the Buena Vista Fire Department, Buena Vista Fiddler's Convention and the Buena Vista Rescue Squad Auxiliary. In addition to her father, she is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Edward L. Matheny; their devoted daughter, Abby L. Matheny and fiance, John Rowsey; mother-in-law, Shirley Blackburn and husband, Vaughn; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Suzanne Coleman; nieces, Carrie and husband, Cory Claytor, Lindsey and husband, Scott Fitzgerald; nephew, David and wife, Elizabeth Coleman, and her "little sweethearts", Zach, Katie and Anna Claytor, Riley and Vaden Coleman and their baby sister, due any day. Also, very special friends Debbie, Jeff, Hillary and John David Kerr, as well as many family members and friends. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. on Monday September 20, 2010 at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, 303 E 24th St. with the Rev. George W. Chapman III and Rev. Butch Grow officiating. Burial followed in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Sunday September 19, 2010 at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church from 2 to 5 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Buena Vista Fire Department or to the Buena Vista City Schools Schlarship Fund in her name. Arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by three children: Tony Lee McDaniel and wife Teresa of Roanoke, Terry McDaniel Dudley and husband Richard, Kaye McDaniel Taylor and husband Ricky, all of Buena Vista and three grandchildren: Eric Shaun Dudley, Brandy Nicole Dudley and Jonathan Dwayne "John T." Taylor. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Art Hearne, Rev. Carl Goodman and Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad.
