     Barbara Jean Basham Barbara Poff, Jan 9, 1940 - Jul 1, 2025. Barbara Jean Basham, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away July 1, 2025. Born January 9, 1940, in Shawsville, she was the only child of the late Clifford Gilmore Basham and Agnes Kirby Basham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John Thomas Basham and Alma Hodges Basham; and her maternal grandparents, Joseph Hampton Kirby and Maude Richardson Kirby. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband and high school sweetheart, Allan. Although they felt so blessed to have shared 67 happy years together, neither of them could ever imagine spending one day without the other. Also surviving is her beloved son, Odell; daughter-in-law Julie; and grandson, Joseph. They will be a comfort to Allan as he adjusts to life without his soulmate. Although Barbara retired after a career of more than three decades as an administrative assistant at Virginia Tech, she considered her proudest accomplishment her home and family. She loved setting pretty tables and preparing special meals to celebrate holidays with her family. She always looked forward to displaying special decorations in her home to commemorate each season or holiday throughout the year. She especially enjoyed decorating for Christmas where more was always better. Allan always looked forward to hearing her reminisce about each and every Christmas decoration and together they would recall its origin and special meaning. Allan and Barbara always found so much joy in just being together. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur C. Bailey, Sr. and Nellie L. Bailey; and two brothers, Arthur, Jr. and C.P. Bailey. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Navy. He started in sheet metal work with his father and later owned his own business, Bailey's Sheet Metal. John later worked in Sheet Metal Union Local 100. He enjoyed driving part-time for NAPA, making many friends. He loved sports, especially baseball, and working in his yard. Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia A. Bailey; loving children, a daughter, Cherie Leary and husband, Bob of Salem, a son, John Earl Bailey, Jr. of Roanoke; three devoted and loving step-daughters, Debbie Manning and fianc, Ron Groves of Virginia Beach, Sharon Fahey and her husband, Michael of Sterling, Carol Paxton and her husband, Chris of Roanoke; a grandson, Michael Fahey, II; three granddaughters, Jennifer Decker and her husband, Russ, Lisa Crain and Lori Raymond and husband, Charles; six great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; sisters, Frances (Nita) Fekas and husband, Alex and Jean P.      Harold Ray Martin was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, 1300 Mountain View Road, Vinton, Roanoke Co., Virginia.³ He Harold Ray Martin, Dec 12, 1934 - Jan 21, 2022. On January 21, 2022, death tried to extinguish the light of Harold Ray Martin at the tender age of 87 years young, but his life continues to shine upon all who knew him. Born and raised in Roanoke, Harold stayed local where he met his wife, Kathleen, and built a life together for over 68 years strong. He worked hard all his life and retired from General Electric after 35 years of service. He dedicated his life to his faith and was the best advisor a family could ask for. He was the foundation, the rock on which his family stood and built their success. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence R. and Pauline Myers Martin; and two brothers, Ronnie and Bobby. He leaves behind a son, David, and a daughter, Debbie (and David Dunbar), Toni who he loved as his own daughter; four grandchildren, Brandon (and Lissa), Devon (and Crystal), Misty, and Courtney; and three great grandchildren, Draven, Ava, and Courtney.⁴ He was born on December 12, 1934 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3,4,5,6 He married Juanita Kathleen Gearheart, daughter of Moyer Horace Gearheart and Mary Williams Kathleen Lillington, on August 21, 1953 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,7,2 Harold Ray Martin died on January 21, 2022 at Virginia at age 87.^3,4
