Born January 25, 1912, in Riner, he was the son of the late William George Richardson and Olya Akers Richardson. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Pulaski and a member of Pythagoris Masonic Lodge #239. He was retired after many years at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant and was also a past member and past president of the Pulaski Civitan Club. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Ralph, John, Harold, and Robert Richardson and two sisters, Kathryn Sturgill and Margaret Hinchee. He is survived by his wife, Helen Elmore Richardson; one daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Gary Lockard of Dublin; one son and daughter-in-law, Philip R. and Brenda Richardson of Massillon, Ohio; one brother, W.G. Richardson of Salem; two grandchildren, Marsha Wright and Kimberly Richardson; and two great-grandchildren, Megan and Lauren Wright. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 1999, at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, with Masonic graveside services. on January 1, 1999.⁶

Costigan of Blacksburg; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Donald Whittaker of Craig, Va., Dodie and Billy Webb of Radford, Kim and Bobby Moore, and Mandi and Mark Huff, all of Christiansburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Joy Poff of Christiansburg; nine grandchildren, Randy Whittaker, Whitney Webb, Emily Webb, Lucas Moore, Alex Moore, Christopher Moore, Nick Phillips, Keri Poff, and Kaitlin Huff. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 2, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the North Fork Baptist Church, Ellett, with the Rev. Steve Akers, Rev. David Hurd, and the Rev. Bobby Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Saturday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evenings at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
