He was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on February 20, 1931 a son of the late Raymond Vivian Bowers, Sr. and Pauline Aldhizer Bowers. Mr. Bowers was a retired Operations Supervisor with Dominion Virginia Power with 43 years of service. In recent years he worked with Whalen Electrical Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Disciples of Christ where he served the church as an Elder, worship leader and Head of the church outreach committee and also served on the board of Trustees of the church. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Elks B.P.O.E. # 1065, a member of the Alleghany Highlands Kiwanas Club, Vice President of the Clifton-Dale Country Club where he was an avid golfer and was an US Army Airborne Veteran. For years he worked with the local Radio Station broadcasting Clifton Forge High School, Mountaineer, Football Games. He is survived by his wife, Georgia “Jo” Butler Bowers; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and John Riley, Jr. of Clifton Forge, Kelly and Bobby Ambrose of Crosslanes, WV and Kathy and Greg Woodson of Clifton Forge; six grandchildren, Derrick Greene, Stephanie Greene, Brandon Ambrose, Brittany Ambrose, Christopher Woodson and Robbie Woodson; a number of nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Teri Hall and Gina Bower. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond V. Bowers, Jr., Richard Maynor Bowers, Ronald L. Bowers and Reginald Allen Bowers. Shamoo, Ph.D., of Ward Lane, Cheshire, died Friday, (June 22, 2001) at the Connecticut Hospice, Inc. He was the husband of Tonia (Kaminski) Shamoo, Ph.D., who is a psychologist in private practice in Cheshire. Dr. Shamoo was born May 25, 1931 in Baghdad, Iraq, son of the late Elias and Mariam (Tobias) Shamoo. He graduated from the University of Louisville, and received his graduate degree in Laboratory Medicine from the University of New York City. Dr. Shamoo had resided in Cheshire since 1970 and was employed with the City of Hartford, Public Health, as Director of Laboratory Medicine for ten years. Dr. Shamoo was president of the Hartford Municipal Employees Association for three years.
