He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Beamer of Ruckersville; one daughter, Tammi Beamer of Roanoke; one son, Timmi Beamer of Roanoke; two brothers, Barry Beamer and his wife, Mary Lou, of Roanoke, Charlie Beamer of Roanoke; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Gordonsville. The family will receive friends following the service at the Gordonsville V.F.W. and American Legion Hall. Preddy Funeral Home, Gordonsville, is in charge of arrangements

T. Poff; and five brothers, Roy, Horace, Elmer, Clarence and Eric Poff, of Roanoke. on January 31, 1945.9

This mission work for the community was her passion. She loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener who, at some point or another had grown almost every vegetable. Ruth worked many years as a supervisor at Miller & Rhodes.Ruth loved her family dearly and is survived by her son, Lynn Townsend and wife, Barbara, of Richmond; granddaughters, Tiffany Talliaferro and husband, Foster, of Doylestown, Pa., Kimberly Townsend Stansell and husband, Scott, of Richmond, Va., and Sherry Allaire and husband, Tim, of Lewisville, N.C; grandson, Rhett Townsend of Manakin Sabot, Va; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ashlyn, and Wyatt Talliaferro, Jacob, Sarah and James Stansell, William and Kya Allaire; sister, Edith Bova of Roanoke; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. on September 28, 2016.7

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Copper Hill Church of the Brethern with the Rev. Douglas Jones and the Rev. Frank Wimmer officiating with interment in the church cemetery. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many friends. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Louise Ballard Osika (Dennis) of Lansing, Linda Whiting Hopkins (Joseph III) of Lansing; son, Robert L. (Margaret) Ballard of Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Roger Ballard; second husband, Richard L. Whiting; loving brother and sister, Herman Poff and Eva Poff Hurley; and a grandson, Jason Ballard. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Thelma's friends and caregivers at Lakeside Nursing Home and to the wonderful staff at Hospicare for taking such good care of her these past few months and weeks. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. on October 11, 2004.2

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. "Bud" Link and her parents, Jerry and Louanna Williams Poff. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Vivian H. Link of Newport; two daughters, Betty Pangborn of Pearisburg and Judy Breen of Newport; four grandchildren, Noah A. "Bud" Slaughter of Pearisburg, Victor H. Link of Newport, Billy Breen of Newport and Angie and husband Sherman Harvey of Newport; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Harvey of Newport; and special caregivers, Eva Price and Doris Link of Newport. Burial following in Clover Hollow Cemetery at Newport. on January 29, 1999.1

     Constance Leone Strickler was buried at St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield, Isle of Wright Co., Virginia.2 She was born on October 21, 1901 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,2 As of circa 1920,her married name was Duncan.4 She married Samuel Henry "Sam" Duncan circa 1920.4,2 Constance Leone Strickler died on June 15, 2001 at Isle of Wright Co., Virginia, at age 99.2,5 She Constance Strickler Duncan, 99, of 200 Lumar Road, died June 15, 2001. She was a native of Roanoke, Va., a homemaker and a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Henry Duncan and her son, S. Gordon Duncan. Survivors include a son, Wayne L. Duncan of Smithfield; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield, with the Rev. Theodore Bailey officiating. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is in charge. on June 16, 2001.2
