Hawthorne of Roanoke, and a grandmother, Mrs. Edna Lee Richardson. Final rites will be at Chapel Garden Abbey, Sherwood Cemetery. on January 26, 1967.7

     Joseph Howard Gray Sr. was buried at Gray, Poff, and Kropff Family Cemetery, Rt. 221, across from Simpson's Store, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.2 He Joseph Howard Gray Sr.'s will names his wife Nancy, and his infant daughter Nancy, daughters Polly, Harriet, Clarisa, Elizabeth, Mary, Ann, and Rhoda, and sons William, Joseph, James H., Edward, Jafannes [sic], Jackson, Daniel, and John. Only three daughters were given cash (Polly, Harriet, Clarisa), but the remainder of the estate upon the death of his wife was to be divided equally between seven daughters, Elizabeth, Mary, Harriet, Clarisa, Ann, Rhoda, and Nancy, and the eight boys.3 He Joseph Gray was one of the original three brothers immigrating from England just prior to the American Revolution. Joseph Gray was a private durning the American Revolution. (McAllister's Virginia Military.)4 He was born in March, 1779 at Pennsylvania.2 He married Anna "Annie" Custer in May, 1802 at Rockbridge Co., Virginia.2,5 Joseph Howard Gray Sr. married Nancy G. Walton on May 13, 1851 at Floyd Co., Virginia.6 Joseph Howard Gray Sr. died in September, 1863 at Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 84.2

He was in the Marine Reserves for 12 years, active with God's Kid's Youth Group and a Deacon at his church, The Little White Church. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Candy Creasy; daughters, Courtney Creasy, Carla Creasy Peters(Greg), Mary Helen Critzer (Dylan); granddaughter, Hannah Jane Creasy; sisters, Melodee Tamashiro (Charlie) and Dougie Bolt (Roger). on July 30, 2016.2
