Nannie was born in Montgomery County on July 30, 1921, to the late Cabel and Dovie DeWeese. She spent 25 years at Kenrose Manufacturing and Lady Bird Apparel. She loved gardening and the outdoors, and cooking meals for her family. She was a lifelong member of Copper Hill Church of the Brethren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Guy King; a son, Carey Lee King; sisters, Pauline Horrelbek, Katherine Poff, Margie DeWeese, and Treva Dillard; and one brother, Wilbert DeWeese. Left behind to cherish her memory is a daughter, Pam and husband, Ray Clark, of Cloverdale; four sons, Larry King and wife, Sara, of Cloverdale, Glen King, of Salem, Roger King and wife, Sherrie, of Roanoke, and W.G. King and wife, Debbie, of Pulaski; her dearly beloved grandchildren, Michelle Brandt, Steven King, Eric King, Evan King, J.W. King, Crista King, Melissa Clark, and Tim Clark; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Chase Brandt, Olivia, Jillian and Addison King, Lauren and Madalin Danieley, and Ethan and Jacob Parker. She is also survived by one sister, Lela Poff; three brothers, McKinley DeWeese, of Cloverdale, Winston DeWeese, of Wilmington, N.C., and Houston DeWeese, of Winchester, Va; a special cousin, Jim Aldridge; a host of special nieces and nephews; and special friends. The family would like to thank the administrative and nursing staff of Berkshire Health Care Center for their love, patience and care for Nannie over the past few years. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County. on March 19, 2010.9

King; daughter, Crista King; brothers, W.G. King and wife, Debbie, Roger King and wife, Sherrie, Glenn King; a sister, Pam Clark and husband, Ray. Larry is also survived by sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; aunts; uncles; niece; nephews; cousins; friends; and neighbors;, his church and work family. Interment will follow in the Copper Hill Cemetery, Floyd County. Military Honors by Floyd VFW Post 7854 and American Legion #127. The family wish to thank all involved with his care, Good Samaritan Hospice, Lewis Gale Regional Rehab Unit, Dr. Fintel, our family, friends and neighbors. on November 13, 2011.2

He was born on February 27, 1930, to George C. and Dovie Gearhart DeWeese in Copper Hill, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Magdeline Geneva Hambrick DeWeese. He is survived by his children, Allen W. DeWeese, of Troutville, Gary and Becky DeWeese, of Troutville, and Patty and Tim Martin, of Vinton; his daughter-in-law, Ruth DeWeese, of Troutville; his sister, Lela Poff, of Salem; his brothers, Winton DeWeese, of North Carolina, and Houston DeWeese, of Winchester, Va; his grandchildren, Chris DeWeese, of Cloverdale, Mitchell DeWeese, of Roanoke, Joey Martin, of Roanoke, and Crystal DeWeese of Troutville; three great-grandchildren; and a number of special nieces and nephews. Mr. DeWeese served in Korea in the United States Army from August 31, 1948 to August 30, 1951. He worked many years for Roanoke Redi-Mix Concrete Company and was a member of the Cloverdale Church of the Brethren where he became a Deacon on January 7, 1974. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry work but most of all, his family. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011, at Rader Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Karen Cassell officiating.      John Alton Poff John Alton Poff, November 05, 1953 - October 09, 2021. John Alton Poff, 67 years old, of Copper Hill, VA suddenly passed away on Saturday, October 9th, 2021. He was a lifetime member of Mount Union Church of the Brethren in Bent Mountain, VA. He was a man of God, who maintained a moral compass throughout his life. John was the ultimate truck driver for 37 years working with various companies lastly being Hatchett Transportation Inc in Bassett, VA. John was a United States Army Veteran. He was a loving, caring and devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather. John was a good friend to all. John could light up a room with his stories and songs. The world has lost one of its great voices and storytellers. John had a beautiful singing voice and will now be entertaining his loved ones in Heaven. John is preceded in death by his father Albert Harvey Poff, Sr and mother Lela DeWeese Poff of Bent Mountain, VA. John leaves behind wife of 34 years, Sue C. Poff, daughter Sheri Poff, of Copper Hill, VA, son and daughter in law Matthew and Katie Poff and Grandson Alton James Poff of Pigeon Forge, TN, and his beloved basset hound Todd. He also leaves behind his two brothers Albert Harvey Poff, Jr and wife Ouida, of Pulaski, VA, Michael D. Poff of Roanoke, VA, and two sisters Charlotte P. Austin of Roanoke, VA and Shelby P. Davis of Midlothian, VA. John will be missed by all! His family will miss him forever! Heaven has gained another Angel!
