He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1936. In 1940, he moved to Hastings and on Jan. 13, 1941, he entered the Army, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 15, 1945. He married Lea Alva Ragsdale on June 22, 1946, in Smith Center, Kan. She preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2004. He worked as a photographer for Channel 5 for 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion in Hastings, Ham Radio Club, Skylarks (Model Airplane Club in Hastings), G.I. Modelers, and was a past member of the V.F.W. Glen was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross. on December 2, 2010.1

Her husband died in 1990. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and Daughters of the Nile. Survivors are two daughters, Betty June Whipple of Grand Island and Lovona Murphy of Hastings; one brother, Floyd Brown of Lincoln; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and two grandchildren. Memorials may be given to Shriners Crippled Children Transportation Fund. on July 3, 1996.6
