Wayne and Sandy became known at church as "the people with all the kids!" He was, without a doubt, the very best husband, father and "Papa" to everyone in his family. He is also survived by his siblings, Greg, Mike, Chris, Dianne, Pat and Kim; and a host of nieces and nephews that loved and respected him; and a very special sister-in-law, Betty Newell and her husband, Bud. Throughout his young life, he was guided by two important men, Leonard Weaver, his paternal grandfather and Theodore Weaver, fondly known as "Uncle Teddy" who was really his hero! He taught Wayne many things including the love of art and drawing, to be respectful and responsible and to always be "the big brother" to his seven younger siblings. Wayne retired from GE in 1995 due to disability but enjoyed his retirement for a long time. Wayne and Sandy still went dancing every chance they got but they just danced more slowly!! He was an expert at shooting pool and even beat both of his sons.occasionally! He loved to play cards, especially "Kings in the Corner" and didn't care if he won or lost! He was an avid coin collector and became know as "The Quarter Man." He became ill in 2010 and his health continuously declined until his death. He will be missed by all who knew him as he was a gentle, kind soul who always put his family first. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Troy, Virginia. His faith in God carried Wayne and Sandy through the hard times and they depended on God to have his will in their lives. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011, at Zion United Methodist Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Pastor Mike Plasters and Pastor Buster Payne will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville. on November 24, 2011.⁴
