He was born July 29, 1893, in Neosho County to James and Sara (Clarey) Amos. He grew up there. After serving in World War I, he was a postal worker and mail carrier in the St. Paul area. He was an electrician by trade and he came to Parsons in 1925. At one time he was in partnership with Frank Hornback in an electrical business. He was in business by himself at the time of his retirement in 1960. He and Cora Beck were married on May 14, 1974, in Parsons. She survives of the home at 1900 Belmont. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Parsons, the Parsons Masonic Lodge No 117 A.F. & A.M., and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Other survivors include: one daughter, Betty Cotton of Durant, Okla; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a step-son, Don Beck of Geneseo, Ill; two stepdaughters, Rosanna Talbot of Olathe and Virginia Kerley of Parsons; 12 step-grandchildren; 16 step-greatgrandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with graveside military rites. Masonic rites will be held at the funeral home at the time of the service. on January 18, 1984.7

She was preceded in death by three brothers. Services were at 2 p.m. today at the United Chapel Church. The Rev. Kenneth Olson officiated and was assisted the Rev. Virgil Lempenau. Burial was in the McCune Cemetery under the direction of the Stewart Funeral Home, McCune. on November 14, 1983.7

In addition to the husband she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. C. (Betty) Cotton, Durant. Okla; two brothers, the Rev. Lloyd Dixon, Caney, and Charles Dixon, Bakersfield, Calif; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Mrs. Rita March of Parsons, was raised in the Amos home. Mrs. Amos was a charter member of the Parsons Church of the Open Bible where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Richard W. Howard. "Cliff" Amos, 82, a longtime resident of Erie, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul. He had been in failing health for several years. He was born on Aug. 18, 1922, in McCune to Orville and Audrey (Atkinson) Amos. The family moved to the Erie area, where he was raised and attended schools. He entered the United States Navy while he was in high school and served for 20 years. He served during World War II and the Korean War and was stationed in the Philippines, Texas, Memphis, Tenn., and Olathe during his service. He moved back to Erie in the early 1960s and was a self-employed carpenter. He retired in 1986. He married Madonna Schoenhofer on Oct. 1, 1946, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. She survives at Prairie Mission Retirement Village. He enjoyed fishing, camping and coaching his sons' baseball teams. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie, Knights of Columbus Council No. 760 of St. Paul; a life member of George L. Hendricks Post No. 102, American Legion in Erie; a life member of Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Parsons; and the Beantown Ramblers. In his earlier years he was active in the Erie High School Booster Club. Survivors include three sons, Wayne Amos of Kansas City, Kan., Mike Amos of Memphis and Joe Amos of Wichita; two daughters, Donna Bohrer of Erie and Mary Ann Smith of San Jose, Calif; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Amos; a granddaughter, Sonya Theresa Bohrer; two brothers, Norman Amos and Bernard Amos; and one sister, Nola Amos. The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie with the Rev. Daniel Vacca officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery. The parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the church, where the family will receive friends afterward. Friends may call Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home until 5 p.m. today, when the casket will be moved to the church. Memorials to Prairie Mission Village chapel fund or Alzheimer's Association may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 182, Erie, Kan., 66733. on October 10, 2004.3

Services were held at the Christian Church at Nelson, with the Rev. Victor Schwarz officiating and burial was in the Nelson cemetery on May 23, 1963.3

Paul was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge, Scottish and York Rites, Tekamah Shrine, American Legiona and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Kenneth Jensen, and two sisters, Edna Jensen and Jessie Roberts. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; one son and his wife, Robert and Nellie Littrell of Nelson; two daughters and their husbands, Virginia and Jim Dinkel of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Marian and Max Rogers of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; one sister, Verna Eckles of Nelson; one brother, Irvin of Laguna Hills, California; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 1982, at the Nelson Presbyterian Church, with Dr. James S. Walker officiating. Esther Wehrman, organist, accompanied soloist Joe Ferebee as he sung "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden". Pallbearers were Jon Littrell, Gregory Jensen, Paul Dinkel, Kevin Rogers, Michael Corman, Bob Navas and Tom Downey. Masonic services were by Nelson Lodge #77 A.F. and A.M. Military rites by Nelson American Legion Post #187 and V.F.W. #7197, with interment in the Nelson Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements. on April 29, 1982.1
