He was the son of the late John Edward Albert and Edna Dixon Albert, and also predeceased by his sister, Janet A. Sowers. Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years, Sylvia Gearheart Albert; nieces, Jane S. Trace and Kathryn Ann Boardman; nephew, Coy Wayne Gearheart; and brothers-in-law, James Ray Gearheart (Fumi), David Wayne Gearheart (Carol). During World War II and the Korean Conflict, Jack served in the United States Navy. He retired in sales from Creed Company. Mr. Albert was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Roanoke. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2012, from 3 to 4:30 P.M. at Oakey's North Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Gearheart Cemetery located in the hamlet of Reesedale in Montgomery County. The Reverend Sandy Webb and the Reverend Doctor David Dixon will officiate with hymns by Kathryn Ann Boardman. on October 30, 2012.⁴

A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 15, 1999 at 3 p.m. at John M. Oakey's and Son Funeral Chapel, Salem.      Betty Zane Turner Betty Turner Galarneau, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, July 8, 2022 while residing at Richfield Recovery & Care Center, Roanoke, VA. She was preceded in death by husband, Richard Galarneau; infant daughter, Patricia Furrow; two sisters, Reba Wallace and Zona Alouf; and three brothers, James Turner, Eugene Turner, Kenneth Turner; and parents Guy Lawrence and Clyde Graham Turner. She is survived by daughter Ruth Ann Mann (Barry) and son, Mike Furrow (Kim); Grandchildren Ashley Chattin (Matt) and Chase Furrow (Emily); two great-grandchildren, Tessa Furrow and Emersyn Chattin. Betty was retired from Medeco Security Locks and a member and former pianist of Lafayette United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at West Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA. on December 21, 2015.⁴
