Tabor Baptist Church and Kent Lodge of Masons. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Ray Newby Hoats of Waltenboro, S.C; one brother, Isaac Jones Newby of Keeling; two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Henderson of Keeling and Mrs. Mattie Brooks of Danville; and two grandchildren. The body is at the funeral home and the family is at the residence on Keeling Rt. 1. on March 30, 1972.⁴

Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Alton Newby, Edward Newby, Jones Newby, Mrs. Theresa Henderson, all of Keeling, and Mrs. Mattie Brooks of Danville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Wrenn-Yeatts Chapel. Interment will be in the family cemetery at Keeling. The body will rest at the funeral home prior to the services and the family will be at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mattie Brooks, 231 Halifax St. on August 2, 1962.⁵ He died on August 2, 1962 at Danville, Virginia, at age 55.^4,5
