She was born in Pittsylvania County, on April 10, 1919, and was a daughter of the late Jack McGregor and Lillie Haley McGregor. Mattie was married to Wesley Clifton Thompson who passed away on October 24,1999. She was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. She was retired from K-Mart where she was employed for 17 years. She is survived by two sons, Randy L. Thompson and his wife, Sharon of Kernersville, N.C., and Bobby W. Thompson and his wife, Darlene of Virginia Beach; a brother, Robert Lee McGregor and his wife, Sylvia of Evington; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, at 2:00 p. m. at Townes Memorial Chapel by the Reverend Averette Witcher. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. on August 21, 2012.1

Her greatest passion in life was loving and caring for her family members who include a daughter, Shirley Wyatt Moore; three grandchildren, Terri Adams, Sharon Browning (Brian) and Earl Moore (Sarah); two great-grandchildren, Ian Adams (Lauren) and David Adams (Katie); and a great-great-grandson, Liam Adams. Funeral services will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel, Friday, January 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Bruce Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence. "The family would like to thank our extended family who helped us take such loving care of Mrs. Wyatt - Cheryl Lucas, Sarah Smith, Patty Subine and our family from Royalty Care, Jodie Coleman, Karen Gregory, Frances Elliott and Sheena Neville. The Rev. Henry was the son of Noel David Henry and Willie Lee Williams Henry of Danville, Virginia. He attended the University of Richmond in Virginia, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as continuing education throughout his ministry at Clinical Pastoral Education – Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, and St. Andrews University, Scotland, and the Institute of Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. He served a number of churches as Pastor around the State of Virginia, but also performed many services and interim pastorates around the country. David loved to spend time with his family, travel around the world and was an avid reader. David had a wonderful ability to reach people and speak to them either from the pulpit or in person and his sense of humor was epic. His mother, father, wife, Diane Traylor Henry, and brother, Harold Henry, predeceased him. He leaves behind many family members to cherish his memory, his wife, Nancy Arndt Henry; his daughters, Vicki and her husband, Steve, and Debbie and her husband, Kenny; and children, Mark, Karen and her husband, Charlie, and Todd and his wife, Lisa. In addition, David leaves behind his grandchildren: Brian and wife, Morgan, David and wife, Natalia, Jessica, Eric and wife, Anna, Kathrin, Calvin, Carter, Mia, and Arro; and great-grandchildren, Claire and Kate. David's brother, Don Henry and his wife, Kathy; sister-in-law, Sylvia Henry, nieces and nephews, and many extended family and friends made throughout the years will also treasure his memory and time spent together. on February 18, 2021.4
