Light was buried at New Hope Church Cemetery, Monroe Co., West Virginia.² He was born on May 8, 1892 at Forest Hill, Summers Co., West Virginia.^1,2,3 He died on September 4, 1913 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 21.^2,3 He On yesterday morning between 4 and 5, o'clock Luther Light, of Princeton, an ex-brakeman of the Virginian Railway, was found about fifty yards west of the overhead bridge at Princeton, lying near the railroad track in a dying condition. He was hastily removed to the Virginian hospital, where he died shortly after his arrival, without having regained consciousness, says the Bluefield Telegraph. An examination of Light's body revealed the fact that the left top of his head was crushed in and a serious blow had been struck him on the right side of the head near the crown. His fists were bruised and knuckles skinned, while his left hand was much swollen. His left eye was black and bruised and it was stated by the surgeons that the injury to the eye bad been done some hour or more before the other wounds on the dead man had been made. The point at which he was found was at the foot of an embankment some fifty or sixty feet high. On the top of this bank and some three yards from its brink, the hat of the dead man was found, while the bank indicated that probably Light had fallen or been pushed or thrown later the embankment. The death occurred within forty-five minutes after he was discovered. About four feet from his body his pocketbook was found with not one cent in it. The body was removed from the hospital to the Gott undertaking parlors, where it was taken in charge by Justice I. C. Damewood, who after viewing the remains and the spot of the tragedy, summoned a coroner's jury to hold an inquest. He was born near Forest Hill, in Summers county, and is a son of Dan Light, a farmer, living near that place. His father was notified yesterday morning of the death and started at once for Princeton. After the coroner and jury are through with the remains they will be taken to Forest Hill for interment. Young Light had numerous friends and acquaintances in this city, among whom he was popular and well thought of. He was unmarried and leaves besides his parents several sisters and brothers, who live in various sections of Monroe and Summers counties. on September 11, 1913.³

The remains were then removed to the New Hope church. The interment was in the cemetery nearby the church. Mr. Light was in the World War and had not been in this county since that memorable event. He was born and raised at Marie. Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Frank Michael, of Forest Hill. on July 22, 1936.⁶

     Norma Jean Lindsey On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Norma Jean (Jean/Jeannie) Lindsey Dooley passed away at Roanoke Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. She was born Friday, May 28th, 1943, in Tazewell, Virginia. She was the daughter of James Elmer Lindsey and Vireda Pressnell Lindsey. Her family included three brothers Richard, Mike, and Jimmy. She graduated from Tazewell High School in 1961, where she was a cheerleader, basketball player, and a member of the Biology and Pep Club. In 1971, she married James "Peanut" Dooley and went on to have three children. Melissa Hope was born in 1973, Michael Shawn, born in 1976 and Shannon Marie completed the family in 1978. When Peanut met his "Jeannie" in 1970, he described her as the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. She was beautiful inside and out. Jean was always dressed in her best and was known for having the greatest hair and nail styles. Jean had many jobs throughout the years, however, her greatest roles were as a Mom and Nana. She worked in the school cafeteria at Morningside Elementary where her children attended school. She was an excellent cook and baker and was especially known for her famous lasagna, amazing cheeseball, her legendary Thanksgiving pumpkin cake, endless Christmas treats, and the themed cakes she made for her kid's birthdays. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved animals and had many treasured pets over the years. But most importantly, she loved and was passionate about her friends, family, and the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her beloved daughter, Melissa. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Shannon, her son Michael, and her daughter-in-law Allison as well as her grandchildren Lindsey, Sean, and Sheridan. She will also be missed by her brothers Richard, Jimmy, and Mike, along with her close friend Nancy East, niece Sandra, and a host of friends and extended family. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, gospel and country music; she was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Brunswick, Ohio and was a former member of the Oak Grove Christian Choir in Beckley, West Virginia. She was a very caring and hardworking person. She worked for Macy's for 18 years, retiring from Southpark Mall location. Phyllis was a loving wonderful wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who loved spending time with her family.
