He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Jerome Natt, and sister-in-law, Lisa Elmore Cox. He is survived by his devoted wife of twenty-five years, Claire Elmore Natt, and sons, Robert D. Natt and wife Angela and J. Allen Natt. Also surviving are sister Barbara N. Wise and husband Michael, brother Richard P. Natt, parents-in-law, Roger and Leah Elmore, brother-in-law Richard K. Cox, nieces Terry Bennett and Lindsey Elmore Pearson and husband Adam, and great niece and nephew, Brittany and John Bennett. After attending Roanoke City Schools, Ed graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration from UNC at Chapel Hill in 1967. Upon receipt of his law degree from T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, he served as Roanoke City Assistant Attorney, then as Roanoke's first County Attorney. In 1977 he was a founding member of the law firm Osterhoudt, Ferguson, Natt, Aheron and Agee, now Osterhoudt, Prillaman, Natt, Helscher, Yost, Maxwell & Ferguson, PLC. He served in the Army Reserves from 1970 1976. Recognized as one of the best land use attorneys in Southwest Virginia, he also served as a Substitute Judge in Virginia for over twenty-five years. Known for his integrity, wise counsel, and dedication, he was loved by all who had the pleasure of working with him. He won many cases in the Virginia Supreme Court, his latest as recently as last September. A man of generosity and irreproachable character, Ed loved helping others, especially young people, and was thrilled to open his home to high school and college students throughout the years. In 1993, he was awarded Father of the Year for Family Life by CMMA. Through Roanoke County Parks and Recreation, he loved coaching boys basketball for over thirty years. Always active in civic and community affairs, he served on the Board of Governors for Hidden Valley Country Club and as President of Cave Spring Elementary School PTA, ARC (now Goodwill Industries), and Youth Haven. An avid sports enthusiast, watching UNC basketball and golfing with friends were among his favorite pastimes. With genuine faith, he served as a deacon of Covenant Presbyterian Church and was a charter member of Christ the King Presbyterian Church. He was an ardent supporter of Young Life and was among the visionaries instrumental in bringing a new YL Camp to Rockbridge, Va. Always encouraging and optimistic, Ed will be sorely missed by many in the Roanoke Valley, on Bald Head Island, and in Naples, Florida. He will be remembered as hard-working, fun-loving, and a friend to all. His faith and courage through his illness inspired many others. As all who knew him would attest, Ed truly valued his faith, family and friends. A graveside service will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on December 31, 2009.³

     John Barry Leitch John Barry Leitch, Sep 2, 1948 - Jul 27, 2024. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John, a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. As a husband and a father, he exemplified love, wisdom, and unwavering support. He was a beacon of strength for our family. Born on September 2, 1948, John embraced life with open arms. His laughter echoed through family gatherings, and he taught us that joy could be found in the simplest moments: a shared meal, a trip to the lake, or a warm hug. His love was a shelter in life's storms, and he guided us with patience and kindness. John was more than a parent; he was a mentor. His wisdom flowed like a steady river, shaping our character and encouraging us to pursue our dreams. His stories were woven with life lessons, and he reminded us that resilience and compassion were the true measures of success. As a provider, John worked tirelessly to ensure that our family had what they needed. His hands were calloused from hard work, yet they cradled us gently. His sacrifices were silent but profound, a testament to his unwavering commitment to those he loved. John's eyes sparkled when he talked about fishing. Time fishing with Dad was more than about catching fish; they were moments of teaching and connections. He spent many hours on Smith Mountain Lake catching fish and swapping stories with his friend Gary Wilson. As we bid farewell to John, we hold onto the memories: the bedtime stories, the shared laughter, the tug on the fishing line, and the warmth of his embrace. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he gave so freely. A special thank you to Mony Marshall, John's in-home care provider for the past five years. Life would have been much more difficult without Mony's strong support and care. John is survived by his spouse, Judy Leitch of Vinton, VA. Alongside his wife and son-in-law, Rob, John was instrumental in co-founding Auto Master Tire & Service (2010-2015) in Blacksburg, Va., which he treasured.
