He was in the U.S. Army paratroopers 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Ky. He attended Stonewall Jackson High School and worked at Fike Chemical for 17 years. He was a member of the Nitro Moose for over 40 years. James was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Josephine Boggess Eads; parents, Norman A. Eads and Clella M. Eads; sisters, Norma Alexander and Annette Bostic; and one brother, Joe A. Eads. Surviving: children, Kathryn (Richard) Phillips of Vienna, Ill., Christine (Rick) Rose of Roanoke, Va., James Norman Eads Jr. of Vienna Ill., Jennie M. (Monty) Wallace of Chesapeake, and Michael J. Eads of Toledo, Ohio; stepchildren, Harold (Linda) Harper of Cincinnati, Ohio, April (Ronnie) Moore of Hobe Sound, Fla., Angie (Todd) Higginbotham of Winfield and Kelly (Jeff) Moonshower of Marietta, Ga; brother, Ray Eads of North Carolina and Jack Eads of Pennsylvania; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul G. Cogar Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Edward Russell "Ed" Stalnaker was buried at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House, Putnam Co., West Virginia.4 He married Norma Lee Eads, daughter of Norman Albert Eads and Clella Mae Poff.5 Edward Russell "Ed" Stalnaker was born on February 16, 1920 at Riley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.3 He died on January 19, 2018 at Chillicothe, Ross Co., Ohio, at age 97.4 He Mr. Edward R. Stalnaker, 97 of Charleston, WV passed away January 19, 2018 in the VA Medical Center. Mr. Stalnaker is preceded in death by his children Lona Akers, Michael Stalnaker and Lee Allen Stalnaker. He is survived by his children Larry Edward Stalnaker, Gene Stalnaker and Linda Lopresti. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Special thanks to the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, OH for the outstanding care given to Mr. Stalnaker. A tribute to the life of Mr. Edward Stalnaker will be noon Wednesday, January 24, at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Rob Van Fossen officiating. Burial will follow in the memory gardens. on January 23, 2018.4
