He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ida Whitaker; a brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Mabel Pratt; one brother-in-law, Charlie Bass; and two nephews, Joseph Pratt and Michael Bass. Upon his high school graduation, he moved to Roanoke and attended National Business College. He worked for Pitzer Transfer & Storage where he retired as President. His favorite pastimes were baseball, fishing, bowling and dancing. He was a member of the Roanoke Bowling Association, where he was the first inductee into the Roanoke Hall of Fame. He also was a member of the Roanoke Moose Lodge, Roanoke Jaycees, and was an ardent fisherman, where he had earned multiple citations for his flounder. Mr. Pratt was a longtime member of the National Republican Party.
