Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, David Melvin and Janana "Nan" Epperley of Marietta and Benny Alfred Epperley of Fort Worth; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lockie Eva "Sue" and Ritchie Defalco of New Jersey and Shirley Mae and Lonnie Morris of Wisconsin; two brothers, Robert Lee Gearhart and Woodrow Henry Gearhart of Texas; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Maude Ella Neese was buried at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Wellington, Collingsworth Co., Texas.1 She Mrs. W. T. Poff, who had lived in the Wellington area 64 years, died in Thomas Nursing Home Friday, December 28, at 10:05 pm after a long illness. She was 91. She and her family lived in the Midway community east of town until the late Mr. Poff retired from farming. A member of the United Methodist church, Mrs. Poff was active in its work from early life until she was no longer able to attend services. For many years she was active in the Women's Society of Christian Service. Born in Macon County, Georgia, August 29, 1882, she was the former Maude Ella Neese, daughter of Franklin and Aurelia Griffin Neese. She came with her family to Texas as a teen-age girl, settling at Barry, near Corsicana. She came to Collingsworth County in 1909. She was married first to Tom Goswick, and after his death, she was married to W. T. Poff in 1915. Besides her interest in her church, Mrs. Poff devoted herself to her family and her work as a farm wife. Funeral services were conducted at First United Methodist Church at 2:30 pm Sunday, with the Rev. James Boswell officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Hubert Mauldin, Harold Caldwell, Joe Sanders, Robert Posey, George Scott, and Odas Benson of Hershey, Nebraska. Survivors are a son, L E Goswick; a step son, Aubrey Poff of Denham Springs, La; two daughters, Mrs. W. C. Sanders of Tulia and Mrs. Mary Belew; a sister, Mrs. Edgar Lockhart; 21 grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren.1

He was stricken ill at his home and was dead on arrival at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Belew was one of the first men in this area to go into the custom combine business, and continued to operate it until his death. He had worked northward in the wheat harvest this summer as he did each year. Along with it, he was also a partner in a farm equipment business for a number of years. Earlier, he farmed in the Loco community for many years. Born Nov. 28, 1010, in Montague County, he was the son of G.D. Belew of Wellington and the late Mrs. Fannie Belew. He came here, along with other members of his family, in 1931 from Grayson County. Surviving Mr. Belew are his wife, Mrs. Mary Belew, five sons and five daughters: Kenneth Patterson and Alton Belew of Wellington, Leroy Belew of Pampa, Donnie Belew of White Deer, and Jerry Belew and Mrs, J. L. Jarvis of Grenla, La, Mrs. Doyle Winegeart of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Jimmy Langford and Miss Linda Belew of Wellington, and Miss Patricia Belew of Wichita, Kansas. Other survivors are his father, G. D. Belew of Wellington; five brothers: Herman Belew and T. P. Belew of Wellington, Grady Belew of Chnnnlng, Robert Belew and Weldon Belew of Oklahoma City; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. on October 23, 1969.5
