Born in Halifax County, Va., Mr. Whitt was the son of the late Hutch and Maggie Newby Whitt, husband of the late Virginia Dean Whitt, and father of the late Robert Dean "Bobby" Whitt. He was the owner of Whitt's Garage and was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Whitt is survived by his son, Ron Whitt and wife Bess of Roxboro; two brothers, Raymond Whitt of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Thelbert "Bert" Whitt, of Key West; two sisters, Ruby Garrett and Betty Rockwell, both of Timberlake; four grandchildren, Meredith Alexander, Melissa Holley, Megan Banks and Sara Falcon and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in memory of William and Virginia Dean Whitt and Robert Dean Whitt, 1655 Mt. Harmony Church Rd., Rougemont, NC, 27572. on September 19, 2009.2

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church by the Rev. Barry Chambers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Rockwell, Owen Whitt, Ronald Whitt, Jimmy Thomas, David Thomas, Hunter Thomas, and Pete Thomas. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM today, June 19, 2012 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Gary Garrett, 3189 Oxford Rd. Roxboro. Surviving other than his wife of the home are one sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Ingold, and husband, Bill of Elon; brother-in-law, Natt Yancey of Rougemont; six nieces and one nephew; and special friends, Kenneth Ingle family, Katie Ingle, and Otis Bailey family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mildred Yancey; a brother, Mr. C. D. Latta; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Floyleen Latta. Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 9, at Bellemont United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jerry Jackson and Rev. Jeff Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at RichThompson FuneralCremation Service in Burlington from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday evening and other times at the residence. The casket will be placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to Bellemont United Methodist Church, 4039 Markwood Dr., Burlington, N.C. 27215. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Infusion Centers of UNC Hospital and Alamance Regional Medical Center. on September 8, 2008.3

Nathaniel Josephus "Natt" Yancey Nathaniel "Nat" Yancey, 92, of Rougemont, died October 11, 2015 at Rose Manor Nursing Center in Durham. Born in Person County, Mr. Yancey was son of the late Howard and Della Huff Yancey and husband of the late Mildred Latta Yancey. He was preceded in death his granddaughter, Amanda G. Webster. Mr. Yancey retired from Crown Aluminum. and was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church where he served as usher. Mr. Yancey helped to build the church and has maintained it for a number of years. He served in the US Army during WWII at Ft. Meade in Maryland. Mr. Yancey is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Ann Christmas of Rougemont, Natalie Webster (Steve) of Raleigh, Cheryl Rigsbee (Randy) of Rougemont; one sister, Lucille Chandler, of Hanover, MD; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Ingold and Linda Latta both of Burlington; two grandchildren, Jennifer Dixon (Kenny) and Amber Koket (Storey); three great grandchildren, Gloria Dixon, Nate and Tyler Koket. Funeral services will be held 1PM Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church by the Rev. Barry Chambers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.4 He was buried at Mount Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, Person Co., North Carolina.3,4 He was born on February 11, 1923 at Person Co., North Carolina.3,5 He married Mildred Katherine Latta, daughter of James "Jim" Latta and Hariett C.
