Bailey had made his long residence here was saddened Monday morning in the announcement of his death. Mr. Bailey had been in bad health ever since his return here last fall from an extended trip though the North, but at times hope was expressed that he would recover his health. Mr. Bailey came here from Nebraska about 25 years ago and settled a farm west of town, which he occupied until a little over a year ago when Mrs, Bailey died. He leaves a son Orin and two daughters, Mrs. B.L. Adams of Ocala and Lola, who were all with him when the end came. The funeral was held Tuesday, the services being conducted by Reverend Thomas Chapman of the Universalist Church of which Mr. Bailey was a communicant. on April 3, 1913.5

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon 19 Jun, at 2:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Stella M. Smith, with Rev. Geer of Gandy in charge. Rev. & Mrs. Geer sang, accompanied by Mrs. Mynor Smith. Pallbearers were: Loren and Harry Dillon, Clark and Mynor Smith, Robert Stockall and Art Flint. Interment was made in the Arnold Cemetery. on July 4, 1940.2

     George Dillon Reed was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Whiting Township, Jackson Co., Kansas.2,3 He was born on July 20, 1852 at Lagro Township, Wabash Co., Indiana.1,4 He married Mame R. Sumner on February 23, 1893 at Whiting, Jackson Co., Kansas.5,6 George Dillon Reed died on April 30, 1923 at Manhattan, Riley Co., Kansas, at age 70.1,2 He George D. Reed died Monday night at his home in Manhattan, Kansas. The body accompanied by Mrs. Reed and sons, Walter and wife and Homer, arrived here on the nine'o'clock, R. I. train, and in charge of Jackson Lodge 214, I.O.O.F. was taken directly to Spring Hill cemetery and burial made in the family lot. Mr. Reed came to Kansas at an early day and lived many years in the vicinity of Whiting, and was well and favorably known by almost every person, many of whom remain to sympathize with the wife and children. Mrs. Reed remained for a few days visit with friends, but Walter and wife and Homer returned to Manhattan Thursday evening. on May 4, 1923.2
