Miriam Catherine Dillon was buried at Magnolia Cemetery (also known as DeFuniak Springs Cemetery), DeFuniak Springs, Walton Co., Florida.1,2,6 She was born on October 24, 1844 at Wabash Co., Indiana.4,6 She married Amos Congdon Bailey on February 27, 1873 at Nebraska City, Otoe Co., Nebraska.4,1,2 As of February 27, 1873,her married name was Bailey. Miriam Catherine Dillon died on January 14, 1912 at DeFuniak Springs, Walton Co., Florida, at age 67.4,6 She A Good Mother At Rest. A little more than two months ago, when the chill winds began to blow and the leaves and flowers to fade, the evening shadows slowly settled around a peaceful home a little way out from our town. That house is now enshroded in darkness; the radient face of a dear mother has disappeared from the fireside, and she will be seen no more in her accustomed place. The loving little family circle has been broken for a time, and those who remain feel keenly the loss they have sustained. Miriam Catherine Dillon, the maiden name of the subject of this sketch was born in Wabash Co., Ind., in 1844. She moved to Nebraska in the year 1857. Here she was happily married to Mr. Amos C. Bailey in 1872. They moved to Florida in 1890 where they have since spent their years, proving themselves to be the most useful of citizenz. Three children accompanied them from the northwest, one son and two daughters, who still survive. At 5:20 a.m., January 15, Mrs. Baily passed peacefully away surrounded by her husband, child not having arrived yet. In the absence of their pastor, Rev. Thomas Chapman, the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Slaughter, pastor of the Methodist church. The remains were interred in the cemetery at DeFuniak Springs, on January 15th at 3 p.m. Doing unto others as she would have them do unto her, this faithful mother lived a life of rare usefulness, visiting and nursing the sick, and dispelling sunshine wherever she went. In her life of loving sacrafice she revealed the life of Him who went about doing good. May the survivers take comfort in the thought, that in a little while they will be permitted to share with her the joys of the life eternal, that the shadows will disappear, and that all pain and sorrow will be done away; for trouble endures, but a night since joy will come in the morning. THOMAS CHAPMAN on January 18, 1912.2
