Ora K. Monger was buried at American Cemetery, Mexico City, Mexico.2 He was born on July 9, 1874 at Waterloo Township, Fayette Co., Indiana.2 He died on May 8, 1900 at Mexico City, Mexico, at age 25.2 He Monday night, the family of Thomas S. Monger were shocked upon receiving a telegram announcing that their son, Ora K., was dying of yellow fever, at Mexico City, Mexico. Following this telegram came another message, about eleven o'clock, this morning, conveying the sad intelligence of his death. The blow is a terrible shock to the family and was entirely without warning, as they had no intimation of his sickness. Ora Monger was born in Waterloo township, this county, July 9, 1874. He was reared in this city, where he was employed, up until abont five years ago, when he went to Indianapolis to accept a position at the Bates House. He was soon promoted to the assistant Stewardship and later went to Denver to accept the position of steward at the St. James hotel. Since then he occupied similiar posttions at Kansas City, the McKay summer hotel, Wisconsin, the Emory, Cincinnati, and other places. Last summer, he returned to this city to visit his parents and while here he was beseiged with flattering offers to accept positions with prominent hotels in several of the leading cities in the county. However, being ambitious, be wanted to get into business for himself, and for this reason he left for Mexico on a prospective tour. A letter received by his family, several weeks ago, informed them that he was dissatisified with Mexico and was expected to return to the United States soon. When he left here, Ora was the picture of good health. He was a handsome young man and exemplary habits. He was exceptionally kind to his family and was quite a home favorite. His death will bring forth many a heartache from his family and be will also be sincerely mourned by his friends. The dispatch announcing his death was from Dr. Parsons, of the American Hospital, and it also stated that the remains would be interred, today, in the American cemetery. As he died of yellow fever, a contageous disease, it was impossible to have the body shipped here for burial. on May 9, 1900.2
