When she retired, she finally had the time to indulge in her love of gardening, taking classes to challenge her mind and began exercising to strengthen her body. She had a wide and ever-growing circle of friends with whom she shared her love of life. Susan is survived by her children Stephen Epstein and his wife, Chris, Elizabeth Epstein Mond and her husband, Jered, and Michael Epstein and his wife, Karen. She is also survived by five grandchildren; and her beloved brother, Martin Birnbaum and his wife, Roz Greenspon. In addition, she leaves behind her former husbands, Jules Epstein, of Boca Raton, FL and Marc Breines of Charlotte, NC. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Temple Beth El, 5101 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. Interment private. A shiva reception will follow immediately after the service in the synagogue. The family requests for memorial donations in Susan's memory to be made to Jewish Family Services, c/o The Charlotte Jewish Community Center, 5001 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC, 28226 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 E.
